Clark Wilson LLP is seeking a Legal Assistant to support lawyers within our Estates, Trusts, and Tax practice group. This role is primarily focused on solicitor-based tax and estate planning matters, including corporate reorganizations, trust structuring, and succession planning. Who We Are
What You’ll Be Doing
Clark Wilson LLP is seeking a Legal Assistant to support lawyers within our Litigation practice group. This role is primarily focused on litigation matters and dispute resolution, including managing court filings, preparing litigation documents, and supporting lawyers through all stages of the litigation process from initial file intake through to trial preparation.
This role requires being fluent in Mandarin.
What You’ll Be Doing
Every day will bring new and exciting opportunities to learn and grow, but below are some of the regular tasks you can expect to work on:
communicating with clients and potential clients and responding to client requests;
coordinating client meetings, discoveries, mediations, and court appearances;
drafting and formatting litigation documents, correspondence, and court materials;
preparing, filing, and serving court documents in accordance with the Supreme Court Civil Rules and applicable court procedures;
preparing lists of documents, affidavits, notices of application, and other litigation materials;
preparing hearing and trial materials, including binders and document briefs;
preparing and sending invoices to clients;
responding to billing-related inquiries from clients as needed;
assisting with the organization and maintenance of litigation files and document management systems;
managing lawyers’ busy calendars, including coordinating litigation deadlines and court dates;
liaising with legal assistants, paralegals, other lawyers, and clients on file progress; and
general administrative duties as required.
How You’ll Be a Great Fit For This Role
graduate of a recognized Legal Assistant program or relevant experience;
a minimum of 3–4 years of experience as a Legal Administrative Assistant in a litigation practice;
strong understanding of litigation procedures and court filing processes;
excellent verbal and written communication skills;
a client-centered approach with the commitment to providing outstanding service;
experience preparing litigation documents and court filings;
strong technical skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, and document management systems such as iManage;
experience with BC Online and court services filing portals is an asset;
excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
the ability to prioritize a high volume of tasks and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment;
the ability to follow instructions and adhere to strict litigation deadlines;
the ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion and confidentiality and to adapt to changing demands.
