Legal Assistant / Policy Processor
Location: Lowell, IN
Reports To: Branch Manager and Associate Director of Title Services
Position Summary
The Legal Assistant / Policy Processor provides legal and administrative support to the Associate Director of Title Services while also managing the preparation and issuance of title insurance policies. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to balance administrative, client service, and technical policy duties in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Legal and Administrative Support
Draft, edit, and proofread legal documents, and correspondence with accuracy and professionalism.
Organize and maintain both physical and electronic files to ensure accessibility and compliance with office procedures.
Serve as a point of contact for clients by answering calls, responding to inquiries, and assisting with file updates.=
Title Policy Processing
Prepare and issue title insurance policies in accordance with company procedures and industry standards.
Review and verify legal descriptions, exceptions, endorsements, and other included information for accuracy.
Draft policies and endorsements in SoftPro, ensuring completeness and correctness.
Coordinate with internal staff, underwriters, lenders, and real estate professionals to deliver policies in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Experience within the title, real estate, lending, or legal industries preferred.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and a professional demeanor.
High attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with title production software a plus.
Associate degree or paralegal certification preferred.
