Who You Are
Are adaptable and quick to identify issues or needs, and can accommodate last-minute requests and situations
Are capable of proactively anticipating needs and reacting quickly through developing an analytical approach and thorough understanding of the business
Have exceptional time management and pride yourself on exemplary organizational skills including but not limited to management of email, digital files, and processes
Are highly knowledgeable and efficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Are a self-starter and demonstrate a history of holding yourself accountable
Have completed a Legal Assistant Diploma/Certificate from a recognized institution
How You’ll Make a Difference
At Litco Law, we are obsessed with providing mind-blowing client service. We are always finding new ways to serve our clients and support them throughout their employment claims. We rely on our Legal Assistants to provide high-quality client service alongside strong administrative and operational support to our lawyers for all matters pertaining to wrongful dismissal, constructive dismissal, severance offers, contract review, dispute resolution, and human rights issues in the workplace.
You will:
Manage and maintain files in a logical and orderly manner including accurately documenting all data in our file management software
Assist with the efficient and effective movement of client files through the claims process
Maintain client contact at least once every 30 days, responding to all client inquiries within 24 hours
Meet with clients to swear/affirm and sign documents, to provide updates, or to answer questions as required
Draft, file and serve pleadings including but not limited to Statement of Claims, Civil Claims, Affidavit of Records, Producible Documents, various Applications and Affidavits, etc. with the Alberta Provincial Court and Court of King’s Bench
Assist in the collection of evidence needed to advance the client’s claim
Review and analyze documents, contracts, and other employment-related materials
Follow instructions from lawyer and accurately transcribe lawyer dictation
Manage schedule for assigned lawyer including booking, questionings, mediations, JDRs, trials, client meetings, etc. as necessary
Work alongside various departments to ensure documentation is prepared and ready for settlement meetings with clients
Work collaboratively with the team to provide assistance and coverage on other client files as necessary
