Job Description

 Responsible for maintaining accounting policies for leasing transactions, loans , and related tax accounting, including complex equity investments and partnership structures. Finalize accounting technical memos for accounting policy and auditors. Review, reconcile, and explain differences between economics and accounting to originations team. Function as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for leasing and renewable energy transactions.

Major Responsibilities:

Document positions and structure transactions for book and tax purposes. Work closely with Originations teams on new transaction accounting treatment. Be part of the drafting process and discuss/document issues with Accounting Policy and auditors. Educate department on changes in standards and provide analysis on how these affect accounting for the transactions and client sensitivities.

Qualifications

10-15 years of accounting experience (preferably 5+ years in leasing and/or asset finance products).

Experience in a financial institution accounting policy group, a National Office of a US firm, or with FASB or SEC SME in leasing, equity and consolidation accounting or tax issues.

Ability to partner with a drafting team and support accounting positions.

Advanced experience with technical accounting (leasing, consolidation, revenue recognition, derivatives and/or equity and partnership investments).

Knowledge of SEC/regulatory/external financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, including BASEL II and III and IT implementation.

Strong understanding of advanced tax requirements, as well as sales/property/income taxes including deferred tax calculations.

Experience with SOX documentation, implementation and internal control requirements.

Capable of working with minimal supervision in a demanding environment.

Excellent critical thinking abilities, business writing, and verbal communication skills.

Proactive and positive approach to problem resolution.

Proficiency in Microsoft products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and MS Project.

Knowledge of accounting software, lease pricing software (IDS), Visio, PeopleSoft, and SharePoint a plus.

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. CPA preferred (considered if less than 10 years of experience).

Experience working in a Technical Accounting Division of a large or boutique firm or with FASB or SEC experience a plus.
