Learning Designer

KPMG has been appointed as the learning services partner to The Skills Academy - an exciting and innovative approach to skills development for the WA public sector workforce. This one sector approach to learning will deliver a comprehensive suite of courses via a new intuitive and modern technology platform to more than 35,000 staff across 56 participating agencies.

Developed in partnership with more than 150 subject matter experts from across the WA public sector, 120 courses will be designed specifically for the WA public sector context. Courses will cover a wide range of skills and foundational knowledge required of a modern public sector workforce. We are looking for dynamic, creative and skilled learning designers to join our team in Perth and be part of this new initiative.

Your opportunity 

KPMG’s Learning Workstream is seeking Learning Designers to create high-quality, engaging learning experiences that are aligned to the agreed design principles. This role involves designing impactful learning experiences, leveraging learning science, storytelling techniques and integrating social and collaborative tools to ensure learners acquire the necessary knowledge and skills throughout their learning journey.

The Learning Designer role reports to a Learning Team (Pod) Lead and works in a larger group that is supported by Design Quality, Project Management Office and a Senior Learning Designer. Please note this is a Fixed Term Contract. 

Key responsibilities

The Learning Designer will work on a variety of learning high level program and detailed asset designs for identified courses across different types of learning journeys. The role includes the following responsibilities:

• Owning the end-to-end design of new blended learning, leveraging the use of technology and AI where possible to design engaging and impactful learning experiences.
• Working with developers to translate the designs into reality including visually engaging and brand compliant deliverables.
• Reporting to the Learning Pod Lead for guidance and to meet quality standards, gather feedback on content, designs and align on selection of learning assets ensuring designs are to scope and budget.
• Developing strong relationships with the Learning Pod Leads, Design Quality Lead and wider learning team to promote a collaborative working environment.
• Following agreed design schedules, processes and methodologies that avoid replication and duplication of effort.
• Driving continuous quality improvement by self and peer reviewing content during project design and development cycles and identifying opportunities for improving assets during future sprints.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

• We value experience in learning design and whilst not essential, qualifications in adult learning design, learning science and digital/blended design will be positively viewed.
• Ability to create highly engaging, blended learning that aligns to desired business outcomes.
• Ability to work with a range of learning technologies and utilise new development tools.
• Experience working on multiple topics and phases of design simultaneously.
• Ability to drive a project through to completion, with the self-motivation to engage with the right individuals to get tasks completed in a timely manner.
• Experience of working with internal and external subject matter experts to design effective learning.
• A strong attention to detail and ability to provide constructive feedback to colleagues to ensure a high quality product.
