We’re looking for an exceptionally skilled, knowledgeable and team-oriented learning designer for online learning in data science and AI.
You’ll join a multidisciplinary team of high-performance professionals—from subject experts to creatives—who are responsible for developing premium educational content for the digital sphere. You will be part of the content production team working on a project for our client to make free science education for the world. We’re looking for a forward-thinking individual who can help to unpack and communicate complex technical concepts in simple and accessible ways, keeping learner engagement and motivation front of mind.

You’ll need to balance teamwork with self-directed execution. You should be comfortable thinking critically about how AI and technology can support your work, and open-minded in trialing new approaches.
We’re looking for someone with a passion for STEM education and inspiring learners around the globe through meaningful educational experiences. Your primary focus will be new content development, particularly in interactive formats and supporting educator resources that help teachers integrate digital materials into the classroom.
Responsibilities:
Brainstorm and conceptualise interactive learning experiences for digital education content in data science with a cross-functional team, including product designers, engineers, graphic and motion designers, subject experts, industry experts and faculty
Design learning experiences grounded in cognitive science, applying data science and AI to real-world challenges
Develop scripts and implement feedback for learning assets, including creative briefs for graphic and motion design, leveraging AI-powered tools
Provide iterative reviews of content developed by subject experts with a focus on effective learning design principles, championing the learner perspective and flexible, modular design
Evaluate user feedback and analytics data to recommend improvements to learning materials and strategies
Research and collaborate on innovation projects with product design and engineering teams to experiment with new content types suited for delivering engaging data science learning
Manage project deadlines and deliverables proactively
Stay up to date on emerging developments in learning design, contributing to an internal community of practice and supporting peers by sharing knowledge and resources
Requirements:
Post-secondary education in data science, statistics, engineering or science with 3 or more years of work experience in relevant fields
Learning design or instructional design experience
Comfort with emerging technologies and willingness to learn
Strong problem-solving skills and people skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and engaging manner suitable for the target audience
Ability to work well independently as well as collaboratively with good organisation and time-management skills
Willingness to work remotely, very important.
Must be eligible for employment in South Africa.
Good to have:
Working knowledge of generative AI capabilities for content development
Experience working with product managers and engineers, especially on learning products
Formal education in learning science, learning design or teaching
Knowledge of US education system with a focus on high school
Experience creating content for online learning environments
Experience aligning content to established education standards
We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace, where individual differences are respected, appreciated, and supported. The next step for shortlisted candidates is to complete a skills alignment assessment. If you do not hear from us after 3 weeks, please consider your application unsuccessful.
