Job Overview
The Lead Trainer – Defense & Public Safety, North America is a senior, customer-facing leadership role responsible for designing, delivering, and evolving advanced unmanned systems training programs for military and public safety organizations.
This position blends:
Operational subject-matter expertise
Training program leadership
Platform development collaboration
Business development support
In addition to developing course material designed for military and public safety organizations, you will play a critical role in shaping training concepts for emerging proprietary MALE platforms, working alongside engineering teams to build scalable, mission-ready training programs. Training will focus on both procedural excellence and tactical employment, ensuring customers can safely, effectively, and operationally deploy systems in real-world environments.
Travel Required (Domestic & International)
Key Responsibilities
Training Development & Delivery
Design, deliver and continuously improve training programs such as:
FPV field applications (both tactical and strategic)
MALE UAS border and asset surveillance and security
Overwatch and crowd security
Emergency response
Counter-UAS (C-UAS) Operations and Planning (red teaming)
Other tactical and strategic applications for small to large drone platforms in real-world defense and public safety / emergency response missions utilizing advanced sensor technologies.
Develop curriculum covering:
Platform – specific operation and maintenance
Procedural Training (SOPs, checklists, safety protocols, and airspace considerations)
Tactical and strategic deployment aligned with real-word defense and public safety missions for both operators and decision makers.
Deliver instructor-led training to:
U.S. and Canadian military units and their leadership
Federal, state/provincial, and local public safety agencies
Adapt content based on mission sets, threat environments, and regulatory frameworks
Platform & Capability Development
Partner with engineering and product teams:
Learn emerging in-house MALE platforms during development
Define training requirements, syllabi, and documentation
Ensure training considerations are integrated into platform design where appropriate
Act as a subject-matter expert (SME) for operational use cases and training implications.
Business Development & Customer Engagement
Support business development and sales efforts by:
Identifying prospective defense and public safety customers
Recognizing training, capability, and operational gaps where solutions may apply
Participating in customer meetings, demonstrations, and evaluations
Act as a trusted technical and operational advisor to customers throughout the sales and delivery lifecycle
Provide feedback from customers to internal teams to inform product and training strategy
Leadership & Representation
Serve as the lead training authority for defense and public safety customers in North America
Represent Volatus Aerospace professionally with military and public safety stakeholders
Contribute to the development of standardized training frameworks as the organization scales
Required Qualifications
Military, Public Safety service, or significant real-world operational experience with:
Unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), ISR platforms, FPV systems, or related capabilities
Must have hands-on experience with:
MALE UAS operations
FPV UAS
Counter-UAS (C-UAS) operations or systems
Prior experience in training, instruction, or curriculum development (formal or informal)
Strong understanding of operational procedures, safety, and mission execution
Ability to communicate complex technical and tactical concepts clearly to varied audiences
Willingness and ability to travel extensively
Preferred Qualifications
Instructor qualification or formal training role in military or public safety organizations, especially in C-UAS.
Experience delivering training to external customers or partner organizations
Familiarity with U.S. and/or Canadian defense and public safety environments
Exposure to new platform introduction, test & evaluation, or capability stand-up
Business development, sales support, or customer engagement experience
Experience operating in joint, coalition, or interagency environments.
