Job Description
About Gradera — Digital Twin & Physical AI Platform
At Gradera, we are building a next-generation Digital Twin and Physical AI platform that enables enterprises to model, simulate, and optimize complex real-world systems. Our work brings together strategy, architecture, data, simulation, and experience design to power decision-making across large-scale operational environments such as manufacturing, logistics, and supply chain networks.
This platform-led initiative applies AI-native execution, advanced simulation, and governed orchestration to help organizations test scenarios, predict outcomes, and continuously improve performance. We operate with an enterprise-first mindset prioritizing reliability, transparency, and measurable business impact as we build intelligent systems that scale beyond a single industry or use case.
Lead Simulation Engineer
Overview
We are seeking a hands-on, visionary Lead Simulation Engineer to drive the technical direction, architecture, and delivery of our simulation platform for digital twin solutions. This is a foundational leadership role responsible for building the simulation engine that powers real-time scenario planning, what-if analysis, and operational optimization across enterprise digital twins.
You will lead a team of simulation engineers, architect the simulation platform using industry standards (OpenUSD, FMI/FMU), and bridge the gap between physics-based modeling and real-time operational decision-making. We value candidates with strong simulation fundamentals — whether from game engines (Unity, Unreal) or scientific computing backgrounds.
Our simulation platform stack includes:
Scene Description & Composition
OpenUSD (Universal Scene Description) for hierarchical scene composition and asset management
Scene graph architecture, layering, and variant sets
Asset pipelines and schema design
Simulation Standards & Co-Simulation
FMI/FMU (Functional Mock-up Interface) for model exchange and co-simulation
Multi-domain system modeling and integration
Discrete Event Simulation (DES) (SimPy) and continuous simulation
Physics & Optimization
Physics engines (PhysX, Bullet) for dynamics and kinematics
OR-Tools for optimization and constraint solving
Multi-physics modeling (mechanical, thermal, fluid where applicable)
Development
Python and C++ for simulation development
Real-time simulation loops, time-stepping, and state management
Performance optimization and scalability
Key Responsibilities
Define and own the simulation platform architecture for scalability, extensibility, and performance
Define and own the simulation strategy data strategy and architecture
Lead adoption of OpenUSD for scene composition, asset management, and simulation state
Architect FMI/FMU-compliant components for interoperability and co-simulation
Design simulation patterns for real-time and batch what-if analysis
Lead development of discrete event and physics-based simulation models
Build optimization algorithms for scheduling and resource allocation
Design co-simulation frameworks integrating multiple domain models
Optimize simulation performance and build validation frameworks
Establish engineering standards, code quality guidelines, and architectural patterns
Provide team leadership: mentorship, code reviews, hiring support, and skills development
Preferred Qualifications
10+ years of experience in simulation engineering, game engine development, or scientific computing, with 4+ years in technical leadership roles
Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Robotics, or related field
Track record of architecting and delivering production-grade simulation platforms
Experience building simulation systems that integrate with enterprise data and ML pipelines
Highly Desirable
Experience building simulations for digital twin platforms
Background in operations research or logistics optimization
Experience with real-time simulation for operational decision support
Contributions to OpenUSD, FMI standard, or open-source simulation projects
Experience with USD for Unity or USD for Unreal plugins
Familiarity with visualization pipelines (Three.js, WebGL, or native rendering)
Publications or patents in simulation, physics modeling, or game engine architecture
Exposure to industrial domains such as Manufacturing, Logistics, or Transportation is a plus.
