We are currently looking for a Lead Mechanical, Welding & Coating Inspector with strong industrial project experience to oversee and coordinate all inspection activities related to LNG modular structure assembly, piping systems, and painting/coating works on site.
The selected candidate will lead the inspection team across these disciplines, ensuring compliance with international standards, proper execution of works, and effective coordination with other areas such as E&I, mechanical completion, insulation, and construction.
Requirements:
Experience & Knowledge:
• Solid experience in modular construction inspection, piping assembly, and coating/painting systems within oil & gas or LNG projects.
• Strong knowledge of welding and piping inspection, NDT methods, and coating quality control.
• Experience managing pressure testing (hydrostatic/pneumatic) and reviewing test packages.
• Familiarity with codes and standards: ASME IX, AWS D1.1, ISO 9606, ASME B31.3, and coating standards (NACE/SSPC).
• Proven ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary inspection teams.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and coordinate mechanical, welding, and coating inspection activities on site.
• Supervise modular structure erection, piping installation, and coating application.
• Review ITPs, mechanical completion certificates, and quality documentation.
• Manage NFI flow and ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Control fit-up, alignment, welding quality, tolerances, and coating application.
• Interface with client representatives, third-party inspectors, and construction teams.
• Ensure full documentation traceability and support handover for commissioning.
• Promote a strong quality and safety culture.
• Mentor and develop the inspection team.
Certifications:
• CSWIP 3.2 or AWS CWI.
• NACE (or equivalent SSPC) coating certification.
• NDT Level II: VT, PT, MT (UT preferred).
• API 577 (desirable).
• Knowledge or training in ASME B31.3.
• HSE training (OSHA 30 or ISO 45001 knowledge is a plus).
Languages:
• Fluent English (mandatory).
• Spanish is a plus.
Other:
• Experience in large-scale LNG or petrochemical projects.
• Familiarity with QA/QC systems and digital inspection tools.
• International experience and ability to work in multicultural environments.
