JOB DESCRIPTION

LEAD LIFEGUARD

Status: Seasonal

Position Summary: To assist the Park Supervisors in providing a safe, clean and enjoyable environment for all guests and staff. Lead Lifeguards will assist in making sure that all daily duties are accomplished in accordance with Park policies. They will participate in the guard rotations; assist with leading in service trainings, rotation assignments, and drills. They act as extra eyes, ears and hands for the Park Supervisors. They report indirectly to the Park Supervisors and directly to the Shift Lead.

Qualifications and Requirements: Valid certification in Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR required or able to obtain.  Previous Lifeguard experience in a multi-pool facility preferred. Instructor certifications, water testing and pool maintenance experience helpful.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment: Sitting for long periods, walking, standing and stooping required. Must be able to lift 50lbs, speak and hear clear enough to facilitate effective communications. Outdoor work exposed to sun, heat and various weather conditions.

Job Duties examples of, but not confined to:

Assure that all Lifeguard staff follows Aquatic Center policies and procedures
Assist with water testing and pool maintenance and recording results.
Lead, participate in and assist with in-service training programs and management communication with lifeguards.
Perform inventories for cleaning supplies and First Aid supplies.
Perform Lifeguard shifts on a regular basis.
Assist with disciplinary actions concerning the Lifeguard staff when requested by Supervisor.
Monitor daily rotations to ensure proper area supervision.
Perform cleaning duties throughout the day and at closing.
Supervise the start-up and end of shift cleaning.
Assist other departments as requested.
Assist supervisors and guest with complaints concerning the Lifeguard staff.
Perform other duties as assigned.
