Kainos Home and Training Center is an established and well-respected Redwood City non-profit that has been serving adults with developmental disabilities since 1974. Our mission is to assist adults with developmental disabilities in reaching their full potential while helping them become active, contributing members of the community. Kainos provides quality residential, vocational and support services, forming an integrated network of training opportunities.

SUMMARY:
As part of the Community Connections team, you will support the Instructors and clients in developing calendars and partnership opportunities to meet the program needs. This will be a combination of work components, volunteering, community integration, college classes and competitive employment. You will be responsible for making sure the calendars of your assigned teams are up to the standard and completed in a timely manner.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Train, teach, interact, and supervise adults with disabilities in vocational and community settings.
Be prepared to support own group and others when needed with resources, back-up plans, coverage, etc.
Train and oversee clients on new tasks and activities as needed.
Develop classes with a focus on vocational and educational attainment for class time prior to each calendar month.
Plan and Implement community outings throughout the calendar month.
As part of the community integration team be prepared and able to drive agency vehicles or take public transportation to and from the activities as scheduled and need dictates.
Oversee assigned team’s calendars to ensure they are meeting the expectations of the program and turned in on time.
All paperwork must be completed on a daily basis prior to leaving or as assigned.
Wear appropriate clothing and footwear that is appropriate and safe while working.
Ensure that clients and group meet all commitments and attend as scheduled (i.e. work, volunteering, classes, etc) regardless of weather.
Perform all paperwork to track client activities and hours as required (i.e. payroll, internship and volunteer hours).
Provide useful/insightful information for annual meetings and/or development of ISP goals.
Attend all departmental in-service meetings, trainings, department/team meetings, and/or other internal meetings as identified.
Work on special projects as needed (i.e. off-site contracts, general cleaning, etc.).
Be aware as to the welfare and safety of the clients at all times.
Promote good public relations with employers/customers, family and/or caretakers, general public, and DR/GGRC counselors.
Keep track of supplies needed for all activities and a provide supply request in advance to the Assistant Program Coordinator or Program Coordinator within a reasonable period of time.
Meet with the Assistant Program Coordinator for annual evaluations.
Must act as a Mandated Reporter, and responsible to report any known or suspected adult abuse.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates Degree Required; BA preferred.

Experience working with persons with an intellectual disability is required.
Excellent oral and written skills.
Ability to effectively supervise clients on various production jobs and related tasks.
Demonstrates the ability to effectively work well with others.
Demonstrates excellent organizational skills, excellent work ethic, good sound judgement and problem solving skills
Able to provide support to all Instructors
PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:
Ability to remain standing or walking on your feet for a minimum of a 4 hour period.
Ability to reach, bend, twist, stoop, push and pull repetitively for up to a 4 hour period.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs repetitively for up to 4 hours at a time.
Ability to lift 50 lbs occasionally with assistance.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:
Maintain current American Red Cross CPR and Standard First Aid certification.
Be able to pass a physical examination and TB test.
Have a clean driving record and criminal record.
Be cleared to drive Kainos vehicles.
