We operate an online reading program for grades 3-12, www.CommonLit.org, that is used by teachers in over 90,000 American schools.

The Opportunity

CommonLit is seeking a Lead Implementation Specialist to play a critical role in advancing school- and district-wide adoption of CommonLit 360. This role sits on the Professional Learning and Implementation team and is responsible for executing organizational strategy related to adoption, implementation, and long-term partner success.

The Lead Implementation Specialist will design, refine, and support implementation systems that enable school and district leaders to successfully lead transformation of ELA instruction. This individual will serve as a key connector across teams, ensuring a cohesive and successful implementation experience for partners. They will bring deep expertise in implementation science, change management, literacy content, and ELA pedagogy, and adult learning principles to ensure that CommonLit’s supports drive meaningful instructional impact.
This is a highly collaborative, cross-functional role that requires strong systems thinking, communication, and the ability to translate strategy into actionable support for diverse school contexts.

Roles & Responsibilities:
Strategy & Systems Ownership


Lead execution and continuous improvement of CommonLit’s implementation strategy to ensure strong adoption and sustained use of CommonLit 360, driving meaningful gains in student literacy outcomes


Own and refine end-to-end implementation systems, tools, and processes that enable school and district leaders to drive instructional change


Contribute to short- and mid-term strategic planning for implementation and partner success

Implementation Support Design & Problem Solving


Diagnose complex, ambiguous implementation challenges by uncovering root causes across instruction, adult learning, and organizational systems, and translating insights into actionable solutions


Apply deep expertise in implementation science, change management, and literacy pedagogy to design solutions that improve instructional quality and student outcomes


Leverage implementation data and partner feedback to drive continuous improvement, ensuring CommonLit’s supports lead to measurable gains in adoption, fidelity, and student achievement


Develop clear, high-impact resources and guidance that build the capacity of school and district leaders to lead sustainable instructional change

Cross-Functional Leadership & Influence


Lead cross-functional initiatives that align teams around a cohesive, high-quality implementation experience for partners, strengthening the end-to-end journey from exploration to onboarding to long-term success


Influence cross-functional stakeholders to align on and to adopt practices that maximize instructional impact and partner success

Subject Matter Expertise & External Representation


Serve as an internal and external subject matter expert on implementation, adult learning, and organizational change


Represent CommonLit in communication with partners and external stakeholders, including leading briefings, presentations, and consultations


Advise senior leaders on implementation strategy, challenges, and opportunities based on field insights and expertise


Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or higher preferred, ideally with concentrations in Educational Leadership, Implementation Science, Improvement Science, Organizational Change, or a related field


10+ years of experience in K–12 education, including at least 5 years in a school or district leadership role


Deep expertise in implementation science, improvement science, and/or change management in educational settings


Strong understanding of English Language Arts and curriculum implementation best practices


Experience supporting or leading major school- or district-wide instructional initiatives, including designing and improving systems, processes, or programs that drive measurable outcomes at scale


Strong understanding of adult learning theory and experience designing supports for adult learners


Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and build alignment across diverse stakeholders


Excellent written and oral communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills


Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to use data to inform decisions


Committed to improving equity of opportunity for students, particularly those in historically underserved communities


Excellent time-management skills


Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills


Available to begin full-time work in July 2026


Physical & Additional Requirements:

This role involves prolonged periods in a stationary position at a desk and working on a computer


Travel up to 10% may be required


Must be available to work from 9-5 PM Eastern and must be US-based


Salary & Benefits

Salary: $110,000-$150,000, commensurate with experience
