Role Overview

We're looking for an accomplished and versatile Lead Software Engineer with deep experience in FastAPI, MongoDB, and ReactJS to shape and drive our core engineering platform. In this role, you will provide technical leadership, own architectural decisions, and mentor a talented team to deliver secure, compliant, and performant healthcare software at scale. You will collaborate across product, clinical, and data teams, ensuring our solutions meet business, security, and user experience goals as we transform cancer diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, development, and maintenance of backend APIs using FastAPI, architecting systems critical for clinical and lab data operations.

• Oversee and guide the development of dynamic, intuitive, and accessible frontend interfaces using ReactJS, enabling impactful workflows for pathologists and lab staff.

• Lead the design and implementation of robust data pipelines and MongoDB-based storage solutions for both structured and unstructured medical data.

• Mentor and support engineers through code reviews, technical coaching, and fostering a high-standard engineering culture.

• Collaborate with data scientists, pathologists, UX designers, and product managers to integrate AI-powered clinical decision support tools.

• Ensure all software systems achieve and maintain HIPAA compliance and align with SOC 2 Type II standards for security and reliability.

• Set best practices for Agile development processes, leading by example in sprints and contributing to continuous integration, deployment, and delivery pipelines.

• Champion high availability, scalability, and resiliency for clinical systems, leveraging AWS and modern Cloud infrastructure.

• Establish and uphold practices for robust unit, integration, and end-to-end testing throughout backend and frontend components.

• Drive system architecture decisions, contributing to technical strategy and ensuring alignment with product and organizational goals.

• Create and enforce thorough documentation standards across architecture, codebases, and processes.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience with a strong focus on FastAPI, MongoDB, and ReactJS, including significant experience architecting and delivering complex systems.

• Demonstrated proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript.

• Expert understanding of RESTful API design, asynchronous programming, and advanced database schema design for document stores.

• Proven experience in building and leading development of modern SPAs (Single Page Applications) using React and component-based architectures.

• In-depth knowledge of healthcare standards and secure data handling practices (HIPAA, PHI, FHIR).

• Substantial experience deploying, monitoring, and scaling cloud applications (preferably AWS) with a focus on reliability and security.

• Advanced Git proficiency and expertise with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows.

• Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead other engineers and communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.

• Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills, with a strong sense of ownership and attention to detail.
