We are building a scalable and compliant fintech platform designed to power expense management, prepaid cards, payouts, and financial automation. We are seeking a Lead Engineering Manager to own and drive the end-to-end technical architecture of the platform—from product design through secure execution and large-scale deployment.

This role will be responsible for defining, building, scaling, and governing the platform’s backend systems, frontend architecture, cloud infrastructure, DevOps practices, and security frameworks, including compliance with financial and regulatory standards such as PCI DSS. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical depth with leadership capability to guide engineering teams and shape the long-term technology vision.

Key Responsibilities

End-to-End Architecture Ownership

• Own the overall system architecture for the fintech platform.
• Design modular, scalable, and fault-tolerant systems supporting expense management, reimbursements, prepaid cards, and payouts.
• Ensure the architecture supports multi-tenant SaaS scalability and long-term platform growth.

Backend Architecture & Engineering Leadership

• Design and implement microservices and event-driven backend architectures.
• Define API standards, database architecture, and system integrations.
• Ensure high availability, performance optimization, and strong data integrity across services.

Frontend Architecture Oversight

• Establish frontend architecture for web dashboards and mobile applications.
• Define best practices for state management, component architecture, and performance optimization.
• Ensure seamless and secure integration between frontend and backend systems.

Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps

• Lead the design and management of AWS-based cloud infrastructure.
• Architect secure environments including VPC configuration, auto-scaling, disaster recovery, and backup strategies.
• Establish CI/CD pipelines and promote Infrastructure-as-Code practices for scalable deployments.

Security, Compliance & PCI DSS

• Act as the technical owner for PCI DSS compliance and secure system architecture.
• Design systems for secure card data handling, encryption, and tokenization.
• Collaborate with auditors, financial institutions, and compliance teams to maintain regulatory standards.

Payments & Card Issuance Architecture

• Define architecture for prepaid card issuance and lifecycle management.
• Integrate with card networks, issuing banks, and payment processors.
• Ensure reliable transaction controls and accurate financial reconciliation processes.

Technology Strategy & Engineering Leadership

• Translate business goals into a scalable long-term technology strategy.
• Mentor engineering leads and senior developers while fostering strong engineering practices.
• Establish standards for code quality, documentation, system reviews, and architectural governance.

Required Skills & Experience

• 6+ years of experience in backend engineering and distributed systems.
• Strong experience in fintech, payments, or banking technology environments.
• Deep understanding of PCI DSS and secure system design principles.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-native architectures.
• Proven ability to lead engineering teams and drive complex technical initiatives.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a builder mindset and ownership mentality.
