ABOUT THE TEAM

Anduril’s Air and Ground Deterrence (AGD) Division develops integrated robotic systems designed to provide multi-domain situational awareness and force protection across land, sea, and air. From detection to tracking, identification, deterrence, and defeat, our family of networked sensors and effectors enables our customers to rapidly detect and identify potential threats. close the kill chain against a broad range of Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) threats.

The Sentry Architecture Team drives end-to-end hardware product development, driving system requirements from open-ended CONOPS prior to overseeing the full product development lifecycle, ensuring scalable, production and mission-ready solutions that meet the performance, reliability, and survivability demands of the U.S. Military and other key stakeholders. The team serves as the key system integrator of the Anduril Sentry Family of Systems (FoS) through collaboration across product, engineering, sales, logistics, operations, and mission success teams.

ABOUT THE JOB

The Sentry Engineering team builds hardware products and systems that leverage artificial intelligence to provide highly accurate, persistent autonomous awareness across land, sea and air. With an AI-enabled edge processing, continuous 360 pan / tilt capability, and a variety of radars and sensors, Sentry can autonomously identify, detect, and track objects of interest to bring increased awareness to borders, military bases, oil and gas pipelines, airports and other critical infrastructure.

We are looking for a Lead Engineer, Sentry Hardware to join our growing team in Irvine, CA. This role will own rapidly developed, ruggedized product introduction in addition to scaling legacy design concepts to support full-rate production. You will be directly responsible for the sustainment, consolidation, and future improvements of core tower systems including platform communications, power, structures, and sensors amongst many others. You will drive technical execution while ensuring we have high-performant, quality designs by defining system design from loose “desirements” prior to partnering with respective engineering teams to ensure reliable product design in the fastest timeframe possible.

The ideal candidate will partner very closely with the Hardware and Software Engineering, Program Management, and Growth cross-functional teams to drive a rapid prototyping mindset while ensuring concepts are developed with the required engineering rigor to scale rapidly to production-ready designs capable of reliable deployment.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Lead technical execution from vision & initial design, through fabrication, test, and production of ruggedized hardware systems and platforms

• Develop platforms and subsystems that support expeditionary operation, intuitive setup and use by warfighters, and modular expansion of sensors.

• Setup trades to enable exploration of early designs while working closely with technical SMEs and Business Development

• Oversee Development teams to find the right solution for current and future gaps in capability.

• Operate at the intersection of software and hardware.

• Define product milestones, lead technical design reviews, guide cross-functional product decisions, and manage engineering risk.

• Coordinate the fabrication of prototype and low-rate production articles and subsystem/system level test efforts

• Conduct hands-on, in-field testing and/or remote troubleshooting of deployed systems

• Create and carry out a verification and validation plan for the end to end system

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Self-starter with high ownership, mission-oriented mentality. Desire to see the product meet the end need of the customer.

• Ability to make educated decisions and leverage engineering trades in the absence of clear customer requirements.

• Experience in a senior role leading system design and development from initial concept through test and delivery to customers

• Experience with data analysis, rapid prototyping, and early-stage customer deployments

• Familiarity with concepts of mechatronic design, firmware + software system design, sensor physics, tracking & calibration, and data-backed decision making.

• Ability to lead a cross-functional team through design trades while meeting program deadlines

• Extremely organized and detail-oriented, with strong verbal & written communication skills

• Ability to travel as required for test planning and execution

• Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechanical or Electrical engineering, Physics, or equivalent experience in a relevant field

• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

US Salary Range
$191,000—$253,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
