The Lead Database Administrator will work in the product Engineering team of Zenoti. We are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator (DBA) with experience in both AWS & Azure Cloud environments to manage and optimize database instances. Looking for an expertise in cloud database architecture, automation, security, backups, and troubleshooting within our cloud infrastructure. This role involves supporting critical database systems, ensuring high availability, and maintaining optimal performance for various database technologies hosted in the cloud.

What will I be doing?

• Strong working experience in both AWS and Azure Cloud environments

• Configure instances in the Cloud and monitoring the systems to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.

• Independently analyse, solve, and correct issues in real time providing problem resolution end-to-end.

• Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes

• Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.

• Provide 24x7 on-call support for critical production systems during outages.

• Support scheduled maintenance and release deployment activities

• Set up and manage monitoring tools (e.g., SQL Sentry, Redgate, SolarWinds, New Relic) and develop custom scripts/dashboards if necessary.

• Work in multi-technology environments managing PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB, MongoDB, DynamoDB instances in our mission-critical Production systems.

What skills do I need?

• 8+ years of experience in database Administration, including at least 2-3 years in AWS or Azure cloud environments.

• Strong proficiency in Transact-SQL (T-SQL) for scripting, automation, and troubleshooting.

• Expertise in PowerShell scripting for Windows-based automation tasks.

• Experience with automation frameworks such as SQL Server Agent, Azure Automation or Terraform (IAC) tool.

• Exposure with SQL Server versions (2019+), Azure SQL Database, and Azure SQL Managed Instance is an added advantage

• Proficiency in performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting skills.

• Administer, configure, and maintain database Instances in Production environments

• Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize code to enhance performance in the cloud environment.

• Implement security policies and best practices to ensure data protection, encryption, access controls, and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.

• Solid understanding of performance tuning, query optimization and execution plans.

• Design backup and recovery strategies for databases, ensuring disaster recovery plans are in place and regularly tested in the cloud infrastructure.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) and source control for database changes.

• Manage the critical patch installations by ensuring minimal disruption and compatibility with cloud-based systems.

• Work with various services in both AWS and Azure cloud environments to manage and automate Cloud operations.

• Develop and implement automation scripts for regular maintenance tasks, performance monitoring, backups, and reporting using PowerShell, T-SQL, and Cloud infrastructure Automation.

• Use various monitoring tools and third-party solutions to monitor Instance health checks, resolve issues, and respond to alerts in a timely manner.

• Work closely with development teams to troubleshoot issues and ensure effective communication across teams.

• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, procedures, policies, and best practices in the Cloud environment.

• Knowledge of various cloud services and tools (AWS Cloud watch, CloudTrail, S3, Azure Monitor, Azure Security Center.

• Scripting skills in Automation for managing and automating tasks.

• Familiarity with compliance, security standards (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.), and data privacy regulations.

• Experience in working with Windows server and any relevant certifications will be an added advantage

• Experience in database migration and hybrid cloud environments.
