Lead Data Scientist (m/f/d)

 

As a Senior Data Scientist  – Tech Lead, you will take ownership of end-to-end delivery for complex, data-driven projects that combine multiple machine learning models and software components. You’ll lead technical design, architecture, and implementation for a key project within our Data Science organization, ensuring that our solutions deliver measurable business impact and technical excellence. You will act as the technical anchor for a small team (2–5 members), coordinating design, delivery, and quality across all project components, while mentoring junior data scientists and collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders. This is a technical leadership role within a single complex project scope — focused on delivery excellence, technical decision-making, and fostering a high-performing team culture.

YOUR ROLE AT SIXT

YOUR SKILLS MATTER

• Applied Machine Learning Expertise You bring 5+ years of experience in Data Science or Machine Learning, with a strong track record of delivering production-grade ML solutions across diverse domains.

• Technical Leadership You have 1+ years of experience in a technical leadership role, guiding teams through end-to-end ML project lifecycles—from problem framing to deployment.

• Modeling Mastery Proven ability to lead end-to-end machine learning projects from design to production.

• Engineering Excellence Strong proficiency in Python and common ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn). Experience designing and evaluating ML models using diverse metrics and validation strategies. Strong understanding of data pipelines, APIs, and productionization of ML systems.

• Mentorship & Best Practices You’ve mentored junior team members and championed engineering best practices, fostering a culture of learning and technical excellence.

• Communication & Collaboration You excel at translating complex technical concepts into clear business insights, and thrive in cross-functional environments with diverse stakeholders.

• Preferred Qualifications Experience in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) and modern MLOps practices. Exposure to large-scale data systems, streaming data, or multi-model architectures.
