We’re looking for a Community Support Specialist who is passionate about helping people achieve their employment and housing goals—and who thrives in a role that blends direct support, advocacy, and community connection.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you’ll support individuals on their path to stability by providing person-centered employment and housing services.
Employment & Skill Development
Help individuals identify strengths, interests, and career goals
Provide job search support, resume guidance, and interview preparation
Offer job coaching and retention support
Build natural supports in the workplace to promote long-term success
Housing Stability Support
Assist with housing searches, applications, and move-in processes
Support budgeting, credit building, and financial stability
Teach tenancy skills and help individuals maintain stable housing
Connect individuals to resources that support long-term success
Collaboration & Community Engagement
Partner with employers, landlords, and community providers
Collaborate across CME programs (Plan to Work, Recovery Café, SOR, and more)
Conduct outreach and build referral relationships
Represent CME at community meetings, trainings, and events
Program Support & Leadership
Support and guide FCS staff in service delivery
Help ensure contract requirements and outcomes are met
Maintain accurate, timely documentation and billing records
Uphold quality, compliance, and confidentiality standards
What You Bring
Education & Experience
AA degree in a related field or 2+ years of related experience (or equivalent combination)
Experience in Foundational Community Supports (FCS) or recovery services is a plus
Certified Peer Counselor or Recovery Coach preferred
Skills & Strengths
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to set healthy boundaries while providing compassionate support
Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable with documentation
Ability to work effectively with diverse communities and honor cultural preferences
Technical & Practical Requirements
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and virtual platforms (Teams, Zoom)
Comfortable using databases and online systems
Valid Washington State driver’s license and reliable transportation
Ability to pass background checks
Willingness to become a WA Healthplanfinder Navigator within 90 days
Work Environment:
This role involves representing the program at community events, outreach activities, and meetings. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.
