Laundry & Housekeeping Assistant

As a Laundry Assistant you will:

Ensure that residents' personal clothing is identified, available, clean, and in good repair. Use facility specific marking system. Follow written procedures for daily distribution to rooms, individual clothing needs, and lost/misplaced clothing

Demonstrate respect for residents and families. Greet resident upon entering room or congregate areas. Refer questions to appropriate supervisor

Consistently maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment

Resident closets: Orderly arrangement, free of dust, dirt and litter

Cleaning schedules and routines: Follow daily/weekly/monthly/seasonal routines

Understand and adhere to procedures defined for the care of the residents necessitating Isolation Precautions

Handle linen to prevent the transmission of infection by keeping clean and soiled separate, covering clean when transporting and storing

Ensure proper storage of supplies

Ensure proper equipment is available and in good working repair

Complete any documentation as necessary to verify service has been delivered or provided

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

18+ years of age

Strong communication skills; Ability to understand and follow directions, both written or oral

Team player, with a willingness to work with all staff and residents

Must be physically capable of heavy loading and unloading of machines, and transporting of loaded carts (bending over, lifting heavy wet linens to shoulder level and transporting - pulling loaded carts - approximately 25 pounds.)

Must understand the functions of soaps, bleaches, softeners, and other chemicals employed in the laundry process

Must be willing to perform routine, repetitive tasks and be able to keep up with the flow of work

This is a daytime part-time 60 hours per pay-period position. Works every other weekend and Holiday. Daytime hours are M-F 8 am - 2:30 pm and Sat-Sun 6:30 am to 1:30 pm
