Summary
Under the direction of the Executive Housekeeper, the Laundry Attendant is responsible including but not limited to performing laundry duties ensuring linens and other laundry is clean and properly presented.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Receive soiled linens, sort, inspect laundry, and record all damaged or stained items.
Operate washers and dryers according to recommended capacity and other manufacturers’ guidelines.
Add necessary chemicals in the correct quantities prior to wash cycles.
Fold clean linens (free stain) and store them.
Assist in daily linen counts for monthly inventories.
Inform the supervisor/manager of malfunctioning equipment.
Respond quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner.
Takes personal responsibility for equipment, ensuring it is operated correctly and secure at all times.
Keep assigned areas clean, safe and hygienic.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all chemicals and cleaning products and the correct handling procedures.
Follow all Occupational Health and Safety procedures
The immediate supervisor/manager may change your role/duties depending on the needs of the operation
Perform other related duties as required
Education, Qualification and Requirements
Must be able to provide a clean criminal record check
Physically able to perform all duties of the position
Ability to follow instructions and to work independently
Excellent time management skills with the ability to work well under pressure
Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is an asset
Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
Strong work ethic and positive team attitude - Able to communicate both verbally and written in English
Comfortable with using common household chemicals.
First Aid/CPR preferred
Work Environment
Able to stand and walk repeatedly over the course of a shift
Ability to tolerate exposures to heat, cold and water
Experience working with laundry equipment, including commercial washing machines, dryers, and commercial presses.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
While performing the duties of this job, there may be stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching and crouching
Regularly exposed to including but not limited to contaminants, industrial cleaning chemicals, and dust and dirt.
Hours of Work
The hours of work for this position will vary depending on operational requirements but will include early morning, evening and late night, as well as weekends and holidays.
