Laundry Assistant

We are looking for someone with talent, a sense of humour and a sparkling personality!

Experience & Requirements:

Relevant hospitality qualification;

At least 1 year experience in a hotel environment;

Must have strong verbal and written communication skills in English, Afrikaans and preferably a 3rd language;

Ability to work with industrial laundry equipment

Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented

Basic understanding of hygiene and chemical handling

Previous experience in laundry operations (hospitality, accommodation, healthcare, or similar environment preferred)

Core Responsibilities

Short-Stay Linen Processing

         Wash, dry, iron, and fold short-stay linen (bedding, towels, protectors) in line with CampusKey standards

         Ensure linen is returned clean, correctly sorted, and on time to support room turnaround

         Monitor linen quality and flag damaged or worn items for replacement

Internal Student Laundry Support

         Process laundry delivered internally by students in accordance with CampusKey procedures

         Ensure correct handling, hygiene standards, and turnaround times are maintained

         Manage laundry queues, loads, and prioritisation based on operational needs

Laundry Operations & Equipment

         Operate laundry machinery safely and correctly (washers, dryers, irons, presses)

         Ensure machines are cleaned, maintained, and reported for servicing when required

         Adhere strictly to chemical usage guidelines and safety standards

Stock, Asset & Quality Control

         Assist with linen stock counts and controls

         Reduce loss, damage, and misplacement of laundry items

         Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant laundry area at all times

Hygiene, Health & Safety

         Comply with all hygiene, infection control, and health & safety requirements

         Follow correct procedures for handling soiled linen

         Ensure separation of clean and dirty laundry at all times

Communication & Teamwork

         Report daily progress, issues, or shortages to the Housekeeping Manager

         Escalate equipment faults, chemical shortages, or operational delays promptly

         Work collaboratively with housekeeping and facilities teams to support operations

Future Commercial Laundry Readiness

         Support the setup and operationalisation of external/commercial laundry services when launched
