LATAM Employee Relations Specialist
Job Summary:
Provide Employee and Labor Relations Leadership for all business lines in Latin America. Maintain effective relationships with business partners in order to drive business results through dynamic and positive employee and labor relations strategies. Ensure consistent practices and decision-making in employee and labor relations in order to mitigate risk and promote a strong, ethical, and motivating environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Uses surveys, interviews, and other studies to conduct research regarding human resource policies and other employment issues. After analyzing the information, make recommendations on changes.
• Manages Employee engagement surveys, engagement activities, systems, newsletters, and internal communication boards.
• Analyzes survey data to make recommendations and present observations to leadership on what’s going well and what can improve.
• Researches and explains laws and legal affairs concerning employment to managers, supervisors, and employees.
• Advises and trains managers and supervisors in best employee relations practices and strategies for managing supervisor problems and employee grievances. Develops further training as needed.
• Conducts investigations into employee matters, complaints, and works with internal and external council to mitigate risk.
• Collaborates with legal counsel and departments in the preparation for and participation in negotiations with employee and labor groups.
• Reviews discipline policies and processes to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements.
Academic Background & Certifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, human resources, or law.
• GPHR, SPHRi, or related certification strongly preferred
Required Qualifications:
• At least 5 years’ experience in a similar HR role, preferably supporting staff in Colombia, Mexico, and Argentina
• At least 5 years of experience working in a global company with multi-country responsibilities
• English Level - B2 and above
Skills and Competencies:
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Thorough understanding of state and federal laws concerning labor relations in Latin America
• Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
• Thorough understanding of negotiation techniques.
• Thorough understanding of dispute resolution and compensation administration.
• Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations.
