The Laser Operator is a part of the Manufacturing Team and is responsible for the set-up and operation of the CNC fiber laser in order to produce the highest quality products to meet customer requirements.
Responsibilities include
Operating and processing parts effectively and efficiently according to print and traveler requirements
Monitoring machine cutting performance and utilization
Understanding of machine setup and shut down including program retrieval, proper gases, proper nozzles, and materials
Safely operating overhead crane, forklift, calipers, grinders, and other hand tools required for the job
Diagnosing machining problems while performing jobs, making modifications as needed.
Checking quality of product machined and notify supervisor of process issues
Performing operator maintenance and/or housekeeping per established schedules
Adhering to all JMS safety procedures and regulations
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Must possess a minimum of 1 year of laser operation experience in a manufacturing environment
Requires use of basic math to analyze information and measuring equipment – working with close tolerances
Ability to work safely and efficiently
Ability to work in a team and independently
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instruction and written processes
Knowledge of sheet metal thicknesses and material types
Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 lbs – moving product off table throughout the shift
Reliable attendance and ability to work flexible work hours (standard shift 5:00am – 3:30pm, M-Th. (Friday and Saturday OT as required)
Desired Experience and Skills
Proficiency with nesting software – preferably ProNest
Experience with ERP system – preferably Epicor
Education
High school diploma or GED equivalent
