The Opportunity-Landscaper-Level I & Level II

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, skilled and highly motivated individual join our Landscaping team. The Landscaper will be expected to perform work required for the maintenance and development of the lawns, landscape beds, trees, irrigation systems, and general grounds around the property.

Applications open to Barbadian nationals or persons with permission to reside and work in Barbados.

Summary of Main Duties:

Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing and removing thatch, and trimming and edging around flower beds, walks, and walls.

Mix and spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, and trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders.

Plant seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees, and shrubs, and apply mulch for protection, using gardening tools.

Soil cultivation, digging, forking, watering, raking, weeding, edging, pruning, seed sowing, bed preparation and plantery.

The ideal candidate will possess:

Secondary school education

Knowledge of a range of grounds hand-tools

Abilities:

Work with minimal supervision.

Able to prioritize, organize, and follow up.

Able to communicate effectively

Work varying schedules as needed to support projects and events

Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.

Able to follow directions thoroughly.

Physically able to undertake manual work for an entire shift.

Able to stand for extended periods of time during shifts.

Able to walk interrupted for long distances on a daily basis

Able to lift, carry and move light to heavy weights, up to 25kg on a regular basis.

Able to push, pull, guide materials over 25kg.

Able to stretch, bend, climb, stoop, squat, crouch for extended periods of time during shifts.

Able to demonstrate sufficient hand-eye coordination, hand and finger dexterity to be able to grasp, visual acuity to operate common grounds equipment and read instructions and safety information.

Auditory ability to hear machinery sounds and alarms.

Near and far visual acuity to read printed materials and observe objects.

Able to work outdoors, exposed to varying weather, under variable noise levels and temperature conditions.

Able to work in an environment containing hazardous chemical substances, dust.
