About the Role:
We’re looking for a motivated and experienced individual to join our Landscape Maintenance Team as a Lead Hand — the second in command on our maintenance crews.
This role is perfect for a hands-on professional with strong leadership skills who enjoys mentoring team members and helping oversee daily operations. At Fossil, you’ll have the opportunity to guide and develop crew members, coordinate tasks, and help drive the success of our landscape projects. Responsibilities
Leadership & Planning
Lead and supervise the maintenance crew in the absence of a Crew Leader to deliver exceptional quality and efficiency on all assigned properties
Aid the Crew Leader in planning daily operations, delegate tasks, and ensure work is completed within scheduled timeframes
Support Crew Leader in the training of crew members, ensuring Fossil’s standard operating procedures (SOPs) are followed
Maintenance Operations
Perform pruning, weeding, lawn care, hedging, irrigation and lighting repairs, planting, and garden renovations
Clean and maintain hardscape areas, patios, and custom features
In coordination with the Crew Leader, maintenance of equipment and tools; ensure trucks are organized and ready for each day’s work
Work collaboratively with teammates and supervisors to deliver consistent results and ensure every property looks its best after each visit
Safety & Administration
Promote a safe, professional work environment in line with company policies and ensuring maintenance standards are upheld at all times
In absence of the Crew Leader, track attendance, crew hours, and project details accurately
What You Bring
3+ years of landscape maintenance experience (preferred, but we’ll train the right person)
Positive attitude, strong work ethic, attention to detail and commitment to quality
Strong leadership and communication skills
Ability to safely operate powered equipment (line trimmers, mowers, blowers, etc.)
Commitment to safety — for yourself, your team, and the properties we maintain
Certification or coursework in horticulture, or progress toward Red Seal, is an asset
Valid BC Class 5 driver’s licence
Compensation & Benefits

Job Details
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Season: February to December (full-time, permanent)
Locations: Vancouver and West Vancouver
