Canada Summer Jobs Opportunity - The Landscape Labourer works alongside the Maintenance team to provide lawn care and property maintenance for all C.M.H.A. H.K.P.R residential and office buildings.
Location: Peterborough
Status: Full-time Temporary (up to 4 months; last day is August 28, 2026)

Wage: $21.25 per hour, plus 6% vacation pay paid out with each pay

Key Responsibilities
Lawn Maintenance and Care
Mow, edge and trim lawns using a push mower and other tools
Apply seed, fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides to lawns
Maintain and water plants, flower beds, and underlying soil on clients’ lawns
Plant flowers, shrubs, trees as needed
Operate backpack blower and gather leaves, hedge trimmings, and debris for removal
Use pruners and trimmers to remove shrub and tree overgrowth
Load and unload lawn care tools into/from work trucks
A. Requirements of the Position
Applicants applying for a position funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Program must meet basic eligibility requirements including:
Must be between 15 and 30 years of age;
Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act , and
Must have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
B. Related and Relevant Experience
· Experience using lawn care equipment such as lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, weed eaters and pruning saws
C. Other
· Valid driver’s license preferred, with access to reliable transportation
· Satisfactory police records search
· Satisfactory references
· Strong customer service and communication skills
· Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
· Must be able to repeatedly lift over 50 lbs.
· Able to sit, stand, kneel and lift
· Lived expertise with a mental health concern or addiction, either personally or with a family member is an asset
· Intermediate to advanced minus proficiency in French an asset
· Proof of receipt of full COVID-19 vaccine
D. Working Conditions
· Regularly works in the community and at clients’ homes
· Works outside in all weather conditions
· Has regular contact with individuals living with serious mental illness and/or dual diagnosis and/or addictions, individuals who are experiencing emotional and/or mental health issues
· Work environment may consist of noise, odours, heat, cold, dirt, oil, chemicals, fumes, severe weather, bodily fluids etc.
· There are multiple competing demands which require strong time management and organizational skills, the ability to be flexible and to regularly re-prioritize demands
