OVERVIEW
Vertex is seeking an Intermediate to Senior Land Analyst to support projects in Northeast British Columbia. This role will be responsible for managing surface land acquisition and regulatory processes for both Crown and Freehold projects, including well sites, pipelines, facilities, and access.
The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of BC regulatory frameworks, land acquisition practices, and Indigenous consultation processes.
Key Responsibilities
Manage surface land acquisition for well sites, pipelines, facilities, and access roads
Conduct and review title, land status, and stakeholder ownership
Prepare and submit applications through BCER systems (AMS / KERMIT)
Coordinate and support Crown land tenure applications
Work closely with internal Indigenous Consultation Coordinators to support consultation requirements
Track and maintain project documentation, agreements, and land records
Support regulatory submissions and compliance requirements
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior/intermediate staff as required
Interface directly with clients on project status, risks, and timelines
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 4+ years of experience in surface land (oil & gas or energy sector)
Strong working knowledge of:
BC Energy Regulator (BCER) requirements
Crown land tenure processes (FrontCounter BC, Land Act)
Freehold land acquisition practices
Experience with:
Working on conventional oil and gas projects in Northeast BC
Surface lease and right-of-way negotiations
Pipeline and wellsite projects
Stakeholder and landowner engagement
Understanding of Indigenous consultation processes in BC (Treaty 8 region preferred)
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
LOCATION
This position will be based out of our Sherwood Park or Calgary office locations. For the right candidate, a remote position within Canada may also be considered
