Located in Gunn, Alberta, Lakeview Recovery Community supports men living with addiction on their journey to a sustainable recovery. We deliver a full continuum of addiction recovery support in a community environment, focusing on healing and personal growth. Our goal is that individuals leave Lakeview with the life skills, tools, and resources to maintain long-term wellness and sustain recovery and having nurtured healthy relationships with friends and family.
Reporting to the Program Director, the Behavioural Health Navigator is an integral part of the programs team, providing individual and group counseling to clients struggling with addiction. The Behavioural Health Navigator works collaboratively with clients to develop personalized treatment plans, facilitate therapeutic interventions, and support their recovery journey in a compassionate and empowering environment
Role-specific Accountabilities
Facilitation of psychoeducational group sessions, including DBT, CBT, and recovery-oriented skill development.
Support the delivery of individual and group recovery programming in alignment with our evidence-based therapeutic techniques to address common themes in addiction recovery, such as relapse prevention, coping skills, and family dynamics.
Maintain an individual caseload focused on enhancing residents’ recovery capital.
Collaborate with clients and the program team to support recovery planning and goal setting
Provide day-to-day support to clients within the therapeutic community, reinforcing structure, accountability, and recovery-oriented behaviours
Recognize and respond to client distress, utilizing appropriate de-escalation strategies and engaging senior staff as needed
Participate in ongoing supervision, mentorship, and professional development
Maintain accurate and confidential records of client assessments, progress notes, and treatment plans, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
Support the delivery and adherence of the Therapeutic Community model and Lakeview Recovery Community values
Qualifications
Education in counselling, human services, social sciences, or a related field, or working towards preferred
Experience working in supportive, community-based, or recovery-oriented environments considered an asset
Strong interest in addiction recovery and behavioural health services
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary clinical team and under supervision
Demonstrated professionalism and ability to maintain appropriate boundaries
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Willingness to engage in ongoing training, mentorship, and professional development
Compassionate, reliable, and client-centered approach
Conditions of Employment
Successfully complete and pass a Vulnerable Persons Criminal Record Check prior to initiating employment and annually thereafter.
