Laboratory Technician (ref. LAB/26/01)

IRB Barcelona is seeking a dedicated Lab Technician to support our research teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment, preparing samples, and assisting with experiments in the Comparative Genomics group led by Dr.Toni Gabaldón.

This position is co-financed by the project “Origin, evolution and adaptation in pathogens of the genus Candida: a genomic and transcriptomic approach (PID2021-126067NB-I00)” financed by the Ministry of Research, Science, Innovation and Universities, the National Agency of Research and the European Regional Development Fund (MICIU/AEI /10.13039/501100011033/FEDER, UE).

KEY RESPONSABILITIES

Prepare and label samples for analysis.

Conduct routine laboratory tests and procedures.

Record and analyze data accurately.

Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Assist researchers with experiments and projects.

YOU HAVE

Technical certificate or degree in areas related to Clinical and Biomedical science (e.g. FP Técnico Superior en Laboratorio Clínico y Biomédico) or a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology or related field.

A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a laboratory environment.

Knowledge of laboratory techniques and safety protocols.

Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

Attention to detail and accuracy.

Intermediate in English (both written and spoken).

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Highly motivated, willing to keep on learning and undertake new challenges

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a demanding research environment.

YOU MIGHT ALSO HAVE

Experience in DNA/RNA extraction and quality control procedures.

Strong interest in Yeast and bacterial culturing.

Skills in library preparation and DNA sequencing techniques.

Motivated to work with liquid handling systems (robotics) for automated sample processing.

Good communication and teamwork abilities.

Skilled in the Microsoft Office suite
