This role is based in Mokopane, Limpopo.
Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
• Safety: Consistent application of Safety & Health principles in all discipline interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities. Material usage to standard: adherence to standards required for chemicals, glassware, and equipment (e.g., MSDS, handling and use of glassware and equipment). 
• Must be competent in performing the role of the Lab Processor and will do so when instructed
• Effective management of Laboratory Equipment and Instrumentation
• Effective Control Room operations (where applicable)
• Effective operation of laboratory instrumentation and equipment (Quality)
• Maintain correct and efficient operation of laboratory instrumentation and equipment
• Monitor instrumentation and trends, react timeously to abnormal activities, QC trends and notify relevant personnel
• Perform the required QC checks and maintain records as necessary as per Laboratory QA/QC policies and procedures.
• Perform glassware verification
• Preparing QC, Internal standards, and calibration standards
• Participate and assist in troubleshooting to resolve equipment/instrument breakdowns and erroneous outputs
• Support the Engineering and Chemistry teams to maintain instrumentation and equipment
• Ensure compliance with the Laboratory Management system & ISO 17025. Report deviations timeously
• Maintain production efficiency and achievement of targets (Quantity)
• Manage the utilization of instrumentation and equipment for maximum throughput. Proactively apply preventative measures to ensure optimal availability
• Operate and monitor applicable SCADA systems
• React appropriately to abnormal activities and notify relevant Process Supervisor and Operator by radio/telephone
• Assist during breakdowns and emergencies and notify standby personnel
• Maintain and operate relevant fire/evacuation alarm system
• Maintain steady volume control of the circuit by monitoring it versus Laboratory parameters
• Ensure correct procedures are followed during start up and shut down of relevant circuits and equipment
• Log any incidents and record breakdowns should they occur
• Perform required shift handover.
This role is at a Band 8 level reporting to the Shift Leader. 
• Grade 12 / NQF 4 – Math, Science,
• Completed all relevant Laboratory Processor skills programmes/training programmes
• Valid EB/Code 08 driver’s licence
Experience and Technical knowledge required for role:
• Minimum of 1 year experience as a Laboratory Processor Grade 1
• ICP-MS and LECO experience Advantageous
• Knowledge of operational processes within scope of role
• Competence in the following skills programs:• Primary Sample Preparation
• Secondary Sample Preparation
• Fire Assay         
• Particle Size Analysis module
• Handling of Gas cylinders module
• Preparation of Standards
• ICP-OES competency
• Competent to use the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
• Risk management techniques and critical controls
• English literate
• Basic financial metrics, cost, and value management & budgeting tools
