Labor & Delivery RN /Birth Assistant: PRN Nights

Position Title:  Experienced Registered Labor & Delivery RN/Birth Assistant PRN Nights and weekends

Location: Haven Women's Health and Birth Center, Cary, NC

Job Type: PRN (as needed, self schedule with minimum shift and weekend requirements)

Salary Range: (Dependent on Experience and Schedule)

Position Overview:

We are currently seeking an EXPERIENCED, highly motivated, and skilled Registered Nurse L&D/ Birth Assistant to join our team on a PRN basis.  This role is integral to providing high-quality care and support during the childbirth process. The ideal candidate will be experienced in providing physiological labor support, empathetic, knowledgeable, and dedicated to enriching the birthing experience for our patients. Candidates must have prior experience in a labor and delivery setting.

Key Responsibilities:

On Call/PRN Birth Assistant

Minimum scheduling requirements: four 12hr "on-call" shifts a month, with one weekend call shift requirement.

Provide hands-on support to families during pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum periods

Monitor the health of the mother and baby during labor and postpartum periods

Assist with lactation and newborn care

Provide education and support to expecting mothers and their families

Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure the highest standard of care

Participate in patient care planning and implementation

Maintain accurate and detailed patient records

Postpartum home visits with maternal and newborn assessments

Practice universal precautions with PPE for infectious disease and blood borne pathogens

Qualifications:

Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of North Carolina

Certifications in ACLS/BLS, NRP (AHA and AAP)

2 years (minimum) experience in Labor and Delivery

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in emergency situations and provide appropriate and responsive first line care

Assist in communicating with hospital and other providers to access appropriate levels of care to assist with smooth transition from birth center to hospital

Commitment to physiologic labor management, patient-centered care and a holistic approach to health and wellness
