Key Accounts Manager

Location: Nairobi, Kenya

About the position

We are looking for a results‑driven Key Accounts Manager to manage and grow strategic customer accounts while delivering sustainable sales, margin, and execution excellence. This role focuses on customer strategy, joint business planning, negotiations, and flawless execution across Key Accounts in Modern Trade.

What you will do

• Manage and grow top-tier Modern Trade and deliver the sales, volume, margin, and distribution targets for assigned key accounts

• Own joint business planning, forecasting, and execution with assigned customers to deliver volume, revenue, and margin targets in line with business objectives

• Lead customer negotiations on pricing, promotions, and trading terms and coach and support Supervisors and Merchandisers to drive in‑store execution excellence

• Translate shopper, customer, category insights and competitor activity into actionable growth initiatives while conducting regular performance reviews to identify risks and opportunities

• Drive solution and concept selling, managing execution from concept to launch

• Ensure accurate account reconciliation, debt management, and timely collections

• Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, and R&D teams.

So, what does it take to be successful in this role?

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, or a related field

• 3–5 years of experience in Key Account Management or Sales in FMCG

• Proven experience managing Modern Trade and/or strategic key accounts

• Strong commercial acumen with proven negotiation skills, strong stakeholder management and effective communication skills

• Self-driven, resilient, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

• Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, sales reporting tools, and with the ability to analyze data and turn insights into customer actions
