Our schools are part of the nationally recognized “Knowledge Is Power Program” network of free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public schools dedicated to preparing students for success in college and in life. The first KIPP New Jersey school opened in Newark in 2002 and since then our school network has expanded to educate 8,684 students in grades K-12. In 2018, we grew our KIPP community in response to a need for high-quality school options for students in Greater Miami’s Urban Core communities. That led to the creation of KIPP Miami, which currently educates more than 1,200 students in 2 schools, with plans to reach 5,800 students by 2026. Here’s what you need to know:

KIPP TEAM & Family Schools is looking to hire a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Manager.  Our FP&A Manager will play a critical role in supporting the financial health and strategic planning efforts of the organization. This position will work closely with the Managing Director of Finance and other budget managers to develop budgets, forecast future financial outcomes, and provide insightful financial analyses. The FP&A Manager serves as the point person for internal stakeholders for all finance tools, data, and the processes associated with building and maintaining budgets. This person also provides direct analytical and project execution support to our finance team and other organizational leaders.

The FP&A Manager will play a critical role within the finance team that supports in setting the strategy for our financial health, sustainability, and growth of a $300M+ organization, as we work to advance our mission. A successful FP&A Manager will support all of our schools and centralized functions across our four cities in two states, and also will collaborate closely with accounting, compliance, human resources, grants, development (fundraising), purchasing, and regional operations teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Analysis, Budgeting and Forecasting: 

• Exhibits high proficiency in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support strategic decision-making.
• Provide in-depth analysis of financial performance, highlighting trends, key drivers, and areas for potential improvement. 
• Prepare long-range financial models and conduct scenario analyses.
• Has in-depth knowledge of financial accounting principles and reporting standards.
• Effectively communicates financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders, ensuring that data-driven decisions are clear and accessible.
• Collaborate with budget managers to develop and monitor the annual budget. Prepare regular forecasts and identify variances to help align financial goals.
• Validates assumptions, cross-checks calculations, and ensures financial models and reports are precise, reliable, and actionable.
• Manage multiple priorities effectively, meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

• Grant and Fund Management: 

• Work with grants and development to ensure that funding sources are effectively managed and reported in compliance with donor requirements.
• Preparation and maintenance of grant tools for managing grants.

• Cross-functional Collaboration: 

• Partner with different teams to support financial and operational initiatives, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and objectives.

• Systems & Data Management: 

• Perform quality control on all tools and data issued by the finance team to internal stakeholders, as well as on all budgets submitted by school, leadership, and support teams.
• Collaborate with accounting, HR, purchasing and IT teammates to ensure data that impacts our financial statements are accurately loaded and maintained in our accounting, HR, and purchasing systems.

• Ad-hoc Projects: Support various financial and strategic projects as directed by the Managing Director of Finance.

Must Haves:

• Unwavering determination to do whatever it takes to help KIPP NJ|Miami students and staff achieve their goals
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field 
• Experience: At least 5 years of relevant experience in FP&A, preferably in the nonprofit or education sector or a similar mission-driven environment.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial modeling and using financial software. Advanced Google Sheets/Excel skills. Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) and GL systems (Intacct) are a plus.
• Knowledge: Understanding of nonprofit financial principles, including restricted and unrestricted funding, grant reporting, and compliance requirements.
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical mindset with exceptional attention to detail. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships across departments.
• Traits: Mission-driven, proactive, and adaptable to a dynamic work environment.

The salary range for this role is $90,000 - $115,000. Salary ranges at KIPP are set based upon the role level and function using benchmarks in the education and non-profit sector and allow for growth within the role.  Individual compensation will be set  based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to: relevant professional experience and qualifications; education, skills and training; and market conditions.
