We’re looking for a motivated and driven Junior Trader/Sales Assistant to join our DSC team in Cambridge, Ontario.
As demand for on-farm feed production continues to grow, so does the need for strong commodity partnerships and market support. This role plays an important part in helping us expand our commodities business by building customer relationships, supporting trading activities, and providing producers with timely market insight and product solutions.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to build a career in agricultural commodities, sales, and trading while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced and evolving industry.
Working with us:
This is an in-person role based at our head office at 151 Savage Drive, Cambridge, Ontario. Typical hours for this position are Monday to Friday 8am-5pm with occasional flexibility required outside of these core hours from time to time.
What you’ll do:
Commodity Sales & Customer Development
Grow sales of assigned commodities, including distillers grains and wheat shorts.
Build and maintain strong relationships with dairy, swine, and poultry producers.
Conduct regular customer calls, farm visits, and follow-up activities.
Identify and develop new business opportunities within the agricultural market.
Provide customers with timely pricing, product availability, and market insights to support purchasing decisions.
Trading & Market Support
Develop knowledge of commodity markets, pricing trends, seasonality, and supply/demand dynamics.
Support purchasing and trading activities by identifying buying opportunities.
Monitor market activity and communicate insights to customers and internal teams.
Work alongside the Business Development Manager to build trading knowledge and risk awareness.
Collaboration & Team Support
Partner with internal teams including sales, nutrition, operations, and ingredients.
Share market intelligence and support customer opportunities across departments.
Provide backup support for the Commodity Specialist when required.
Administrative & Operational Coordination
Maintain accurate records of contracts, trades, and customer interactions.
Support logistics coordination, order tracking, and issue resolution.
Ensure CRM and internal systems are updated and accurate.
Your background includes:
Post-secondary education in Agriculture, Business, Finance, or a related field preferred
1-3 years of experience in sales, agriculture, customer service, or a related role
Interest in commodity markets, trading, and agriculture
Strong relationship-building and communication skills
Self-motivated with a proactive and customer-focused mindset
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
