GCS Group is adding a Junior Telecom Skid Steer Operator to our underground construction crew in Red Deer. We run busy HDD and telecom installation projects and our skid steer operators are an essential part of keeping each site productive and moving. If you've completed your certification and you're looking for a role that puts you on active construction sites with a professional crew, this is a solid opportunity to get started.

At the junior level we're not expecting you to have seen everything — we're expecting you to show up ready to work, take direction well, and operate your machine safely. The hours are consistent and the crew is experienced. You'll learn fast.

What You'll Be Doing

Operate a skid steer in direct support of HDD and telecom installation activities

Move spoil, assist with trench preparation, and support site cleanup and restoration

Stage materials and position equipment to support drill and pulling operations

Work in coordination with the broader crew including drillers, locators, and labourers

Complete daily machine inspections and report any equipment concerns to the foreman

Follow all site safety rules and ground disturbance requirements

What We Need From You

Skid steer certification must be valid before your first day on site — firm requirement

Any prior construction or utility site experience is considered an asset

Physically capable and comfortable working outdoors in all Alberta weather conditions

Punctual, team-oriented, and focused on doing the job right

Valid driver's licence

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

A valid Class 5 driver’s license & clean drivers abstract
