Role Overview

Valsoft Corporation is seeking a .NET/C# Developer to join a small, high-autonomy team working on a correspondence management platform used by enterprises and government organizations. You will be expected to actively evaluate the platform, identify weaknesses, and contribute to improving how it is built and how it is experienced by users.

You will work on a mix of existing and new systems, with a strong focus on modernizing legacy components, improving usability, and raising engineering standards. You will operate in a small team where initiative is required and where developers are expected to take ownership beyond assigned tasks. The team operates with an AI-first development approach. Daily use of AI-assisted tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and Claude Code is a core requirement. Decision making and execution are expected to be supported by AI, combined with your own technical judgment and experience.

What You’ll Do

You will build, improve, and challenge the platform as it exists today and this includes:

• Developing features and services in .NET/C#
• Identifying friction in user workflows and proposing improvements
• Evaluating existing code and proposing more modern, maintainable approaches
• Using AI tools as a core part of your workflow to design, implement, and refine production-quality code
• You are expected to form opinions about the product and the codebase, leveraging both your experience and AI-generated insights to guide decisions.
• You will also work with an existing AI-driven workflow engine that analyzes correspondence and converts unstructured data into structured outputs using LLMs. This includes understanding how it operates, identifying limitations, and contributing to its evolution and improvement.

Day-to-Day Breakdown

• Development: Build and improve features across the platform using .NET/C#.
• Modernization: Identify outdated patterns or legacy components and propose concrete improvements or refactoring approaches.
• User Experience Awareness: Evaluate workflows and interfaces from a user perspective and suggest changes that reduce friction and improve usability.
• Initiative: Step into problems without being explicitly assigned, and drive solutions forward.
• AI-Driven Execution: Use AI tools continuously to support coding, debugging, design decisions, and overall execution.

Responsibilities

Product & Platform Improvement

• Identify gaps in user experience and propose practical improvements.
• Challenge existing workflows, interfaces, and assumptions when they do not serve the user well.
• Contribute to making the platform more intuitive, efficient, and modern.

Modernization & Code Quality

• Assess existing code and identify opportunities for refactoring or simplification.
• Apply modern development practices and patterns to improve maintainability.
• Implement AI-driven software engineering best practices within an existing codebase.

AI Systems & Workflow Engine

• Understand and contribute to an existing AI-driven workflow engine used to process and structure correspondence.
• Analyze how LLMs are used within the system and identify opportunities to improve accuracy, reliability, and performance.
• Propose and implement enhancements to prompts, workflows, and data processing logic.
• Help evolve the system toward more scalable and maintainable AI-driven architectures.

Development & Integration

• Build new features and services within the platform.
• Integrate APIs, messaging systems, and third-party services.
• Maintain and improve existing components to ensure performance and reliability.

Requirements:
Technical Skills

• Solid working knowledge of .NET/C# and experience building applications.
• Familiarity with modern web development.
• Understanding of API design, backend services, and relational databases.
• Ability to read, understand, and improve existing codebases.
• Basic understanding of software design principles and clean code practices.
• Mandatory: Daily, hands-on use of AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar to produce, review, and ship production-quality code.
