We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Junior School Librarian to inspire young learners and help shape a vibrant, future-focused Library Learning Hub (LLH).
As the Junior School Librarian, you will lead the day-to-day operations of our Library Learning Hub for the Early Years and Junior School divisions. You will create an engaging, inclusive, and student-centered environment that supports literacy, research skills, and curiosity-driven learning.
Working closely with the Upper School Librarian and the Junior School Literacy & Information Literacy Coordinator, you will play a key role in embedding library services into the heart of teaching and learning.
What You’ll Do
Create a thriving learning hub
Manage daily operations of the Junior School LLH and embedded library spaces
Curate diverse, inclusive, and engaging collections (digital and physical)
Oversee cataloguing, circulation, and budget management
Inspire a love of reading
Champion reading culture through creative programming, challenges, and events
Design vibrant, ever-changing book displays that connect to curriculum and global themes
Engage young learners
Lead weekly library sessions for Kindergarten to Grade 5 (approx. 18 classes/week)
Integrate storytelling, inquiry, and information literacy into engaging lessons
Support research and discovery
Provide expert readers’ advisory services to students, staff, and families
Guide students and teachers in using library catalogues and research databases
Collaborate and innovate
Partner with teachers and school leaders to enhance curriculum through LLH resources
Contribute to strategic initiatives aligned with the school’s vision
Keep things running smoothly
Manage circulation systems, overdue reporting, and resource tracking
Collaborate with Finance on budgets and resource accountability
What You Bring
A professional library qualification (MLIS or equivalent)
A genuine passion for working with children and fostering literacy
Strong collaboration, communication, and organisational skills
Creativity, flexibility, and a sense of humour
Confidence in managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
Experience with library systems, digital tools, and cataloguing (MARC preferred)

The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $80,000.
The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience in accordance with BC labour laws and company policies.
