About Your Role
CMTS is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Scheduler to support aviation, transportation, and public infrastructure capital improvement projects throughout the Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) Region. This role will assist project controls, construction management, and project management teams with scheduling development, schedule updates, progress tracking, reporting, and schedule analysis activities throughout all phases of project delivery.
The Junior Scheduler will work closely with senior schedulers, project managers, contractors, consultants, and client representatives to help support schedule management processes and maintain accurate project schedules and reporting systems. This position is ideal for an individual looking to grow a career in project controls, scheduling, and infrastructure program management.
Projects may include airport terminal renovations, roadway improvements, transportation infrastructure upgrades, utility modernization projects, vertical construction, transit facilities, and other public sector capital improvement initiatives.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, Architecture, or related field preferred
or
An equivalent combination of education, technical training, and relevant scheduling or construction coordination experience
What You’ll Need to Get the Job Done
1–4 years of scheduling, project coordination, construction administration, or project controls experience
Basic understanding of construction scheduling principles, critical path method (CPM), and project controls concepts
Familiarity with construction sequencing, construction workflows, and project delivery methods preferred
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate project records and reporting information
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in fast-paced project environments
Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint
Familiarity with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar scheduling software preferred
Experience supporting aviation, transportation, or public infrastructure projects preferred
Ability to travel throughout Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia project locations as required

What You’ll Do
Assist with development, maintenance, and updating of project schedules for aviation, transportation, and infrastructure capital improvement projects
Support senior schedulers and project controls teams with schedule analysis, progress tracking, and reporting activities
Update project schedules using information gathered from contractors, field teams, consultants, and project stakeholders
Assist in monitoring project milestones, schedule performance, critical path activities, and project progress against baseline schedules
Support preparation of schedule reports, dashboards, narratives, look-ahead schedules, and executive summaries for leadership and client review
Review contractor schedule submissions and assist with identifying schedule inconsistencies, logic issues, sequencing concerns, and potential delays
Coordinate with project managers, construction managers, and contractors to collect schedule updates and project status information
Participate in project meetings, progress meetings, and schedule review sessions
Assist with schedule recovery analysis and support mitigation planning efforts where necessary
Maintain organized project controls documentation including schedule logs, reports, updates, and supporting project records
Support project controls activities related to forecasting, change management, and progress measurement
Assist with data collection and reporting for project performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs)
Learn and apply project scheduling best practices, scheduling standards, and project controls procedures
Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to operational excellence across project teams
Build and maintain positive working relationships with project teams, contractors, consultants, and client stakeholders
