WHAT IS ON OFFER
Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a Junior IT Technician to join the team based in Richards Bay, South Africa. The Junior IT Technician will be functionally responsible to the Regional Manager for providing Level 1 and Level 2 technical support and maintaining the IT infrastructure within the Richard’s Bay branch. The role ensures reliable, secure and efficient technology operations that support business productivity, service delivery, and compliance with company standards and IT policies.

To be successful at Alfred H Knight the incumbent will need to display the following:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Operationally responsible to the Regional Manager for:
IT Support and Helpdesk
Providing Level 1 and Level 2 technical support to end users.
Troubleshooting hardware, software, LAN connectivity, and system-related issues.
Managing and resolving helpdesk tickets within agreed SLA timeframes.
Providing remote support using authorised remote access tools.
Installing, configuring, and maintaining laptops, desktops, printers, scanners, and other peripheral devices.
Supporting Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace environments.
Network and Infrastructure Support
Administering Active Directory (user accounts, permissions, group policies, and access control).
Supporting LAN infrastructure including switches, routers, DHCP configuration, and network connectivity troubleshooting.
Managing print servers and LAN printers.
Supporting Windows Server environments.
Assisting with cybersecurity awareness and endpoint protection measures.
Mobility and Telecommunications
Supporting Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms.
Configuring and managing corporate mobile devices and enforcing security policies.
Assisting with telecom services including SIM management, data allocation, and connectivity support.
Liaising with telecom providers and external vendors as required.
IT Asset and Logistics Management
Maintaining accurate IT asset registers and lifecycle tracking.
Coordinating equipment procurement, deliveries, repairs, replacements, and collections.
Assisting with IT stock control and consumable management.
Supporting cost-effective use of IT resources.
Documentation, Reporting and Compliance
Maintaining up-to-date documentation of systems, assets, and support activities.
Generating IT performance, asset, and telecom usage reports as required.
Ensuring compliance with company IT policies, security standards, and best practices.
Reporting recurring technical issues or risks to management proactively.

Required Qualifications
Grade 12
IT related qualifications (Diploma / Certificate / Degree)
Required work experience
Approximately 2 years experience in IT support, helpdesk or end-user support roles
Required Languages
Highly proficient in English (Verbal and written)
