What’s the Opportunity?
Anchor QEA has a growing, nation-wide coal combustion residuals (CCR) program. We are seeking a junior-level geologist or environmental scientist to support our expanding workload. This role is ideal for an early-career professional (0–5 years of experience) who is eager to build technical skills in CCR-related site investigation, remediation, data analysis, and reporting. The position includes a mix of field and office responsibilities and offers strong opportunities for professional growth within a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of this position will include the following:
Support CCR site investigations including soil and groundwater sampling
Assist with monitoring well installation, development, and documentation
Plan and participate in field programs, including coordination with subcontractors and laboratories
Process and analyze environmental data
Prepare technical documents such as sampling plans, field reports, and monitoring reports
Support data interpretation and contribute to project deliverables
Coordinate field logistics, scheduling, and equipment needs
Develop and adhere to Health and Safety Plans and promote a culture of safety
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of scientists and engineers
Travel to project sites up to ~25-50% of the time
What Are We Looking For?
Ideal candidates will have the following:
BS in geology, environmental science, environmental engineering, or related field
0–5 years of relevant experience (consulting experience and/or experience with CCR preferred)
Experience with soil and groundwater sampling and field data collection (or strong interest in fieldwork)
Familiarity with environmental data analysis and reporting
Strong technical writing and communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
Willingness to travel and work in field settings
Commitment to safety, quality, and client service
40-hour HAZWOPER certification (or willingness to obtain)
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with CCR regulations and groundwater monitoring programs
Experience coordinating field activities (e.g., drillers, sampling crews)
Exposure to data analysis tools (e.g., Python, R, or similar)

Salary and Other Compensation:
Annual Bonus

Base Level Benefits for Regular Full-Time Positions:
