We’re looking for a curious, ambitious Junior Designer to join our creative team. This role is perfect for someone who’s eager to learn, grow, and create beautiful, thoughtful design work across a variety of projects.
You’ll work closely with experienced designers and collaborate with client creative, marketing and internal client service teams to bring ideas to life. Expect to get stuck in, develop your craft, and play an active role in shaping exciting work for John Lewis.
You’ll be part of a unique blended team; agency based but supporting the John Lewis art direction team. You’ll be exposed to the breadth of multi-channel outputs we deliver for the brand; this role is fast paced and will suit someone who is keen to learn lots, and work with pace. Your portfolio should demonstrate your breadth of design thinking, and you should be as confident in articulating the ideas that went into your work as the resulting output.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design Creation: Develop and execute eye-catching graphic designs for various media platforms including print, packaging, digital, and social media.
• Collaboration: Work closely with ITG and John Lewis teams to create cohesive designs that reflect marketing goals and objectives - including presenting design work to various stakeholders.
• Brand Consistency: Ensure all designs are consistent with our client’s image, style, and messaging.
• Feedback Implementation: Take feedback constructively and revise designs based on feedback from stakeholders to ensure the final product meets their expectations.
• Trend Awareness: Stay up to date with the latest graphic design trends and software, continuously seeking to bring innovation and fresh ideas to the team.
Requirements:
• A design-related degree or equivalent portfolio demonstrating strong foundational skills.
• Basic understanding of layout, typography, colour theory, and visual composition.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
• Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively.
• Strong communication skills, able to articulate your design decisions.
• Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn from others.
• Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple tasks with support.
Nice to have (not essential):
• Experience with Figma.
• Motion graphics basics (After Effects or similar).
• Understanding of digital and social media formats.
