Data at GoCardless

You’ll sit in our Data & Business Systems group and will work with technical and non-technical people across the whole company. You’ll collaborate closely with our team of talented Analysts, Data Scientists, ML/AI Engineers and System Admins, designing and delivering first-class analytics to the business.

We’re a large team with an extensive remit and expect every member to work with initiative and be driven, holding each other accountable and to a high standard. Our technologies: We endeavour to build simple, reliable systems and we believe in using the best technologies for each task. Technologies we use across GoCardless include: Looker, Vertex, Claude code, Python, Looker, Google Cloud Platform, dbt, and Jupyter amongst others.

You’re not expected to have expertise in all these technologies. Members of our team have picked up the tools once they’ve started working with the team.

The Role

At GoCardless we are focused on developing AI and advanced analytics capabilities that power strategic decisions and intelligent systems across the business. As a Junior Data Scientist you will be working within the Analytics team and will be partnering with product, engineering, operations, and commercial teams to embed intelligent decisioning and AI into our products and internal systems. You’ll help people in all areas of GoCardless make better, faster, more data-driven decisions. Analytics is part of our Data & Business Systems Group which at its heart exists to maximise day-to-day efficiency and productivity within GoCardless. We do this by bringing together teams that span data & technology to provide a 1 stop shop for our customers.

The main elements of this role will involve:

• Data collection: Identifying relevant sources, specifying data requirements, and retrieving the data.

• Data cleaning: Inspecting the data, handling missing values and outliers, transforming the data, standardising formats, and validating the cleaned data

• Data visualisation: Using visualisations to tell data stories to a variety of audiences.

• Data analysis: Interpreting results, finding insights, and spotting trends and fluctuations.

• Data Modelling: Building data science prototypes and taking them all the way to a live, measurable solution.

• Documentation: Documenting the information and content that will be consumed and processed.

• Assisting the team: Helping members of the team across various analytics projects, namely building dashboards, supporting pipelines, data cleansing and providing insights to name a few.

• Preferred: Proficiency in Python and relevant ML frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) and working with AI coding tools

Base salary range: €2,200 - €3,300

Base salary ranges are based on role, job level, location, and market data. Please note that whilst we strive to offer competitive compensation, our approach is to pay between the minimum and the mid-point of the pay range until performance can be assessed in role. Offers will take into account level of experience, interview assessment, budgets and parity between you and fellow employees at GoCardless doing similar work.
