Description of Task to be Performed:
We are seeking a talented and motivated Junior or Mid-Level Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will design, build, and support integrations between an enterprise case management platform and supporting systems. This position plays a critical role in ensuring reliable data exchange, system performance, and end-to-end workflow continuity across systems.
In this role, you’ll ensure seamless integration between critical systems, maintain data accuracy and performance, and support modernization efforts that enhance operations.
This position is hybrid with one to three days per week in Chantilly, VA or Woodbridge, VA.
The candidate will be required to pass a high-risk public trust background investigation
Position Responsibilities:
• Build and maintain data integration pipelines, APIs, and middleware services.
• Design scalable data models and schemas.
• Optimize SQL queries, database structures, and backend performance for large-scale systems.
• Support system integrations to ensure accurate tracking and workflow alignment.
• Implement data validation, auditability, and controls, including role-based access and security compliance.
• Contribute technical leadership on system architecture, integration patterns, and solution design.
• Assist with system migrations, ensuring smooth transitions from legacy platforms.
• Develop logic to cleanse, transform, and normalize data into a standard data model.
• Write and optimize SQL queries to extract and manipulate data efficiently.
• Collaborate as part of an Agile Scrum team, contributing to sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospective meetings.
• Perform rigorous testing and debugging to ensure the stability and performance of data adapters.
• Optimize ETL pipelines for scalability and efficiency.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation for all development work.
Required Qualifications::
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of experience in data engineering, including
• Building ETL/ELT pipelines
• SQL query optimization
• Working with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MSSQL
• Experience with high level languages such as Python, Java or C#
• Proficiency in data modeling, integration patterns, and middleware architecture.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Excellent written, verbal, and cross-team communication skills.
• Top Secret clearance or High Risk Public Trust Suitability
Preferred Qualifications::
• Experience with Palantir or optimizing data-intensive applications.
• Background in system migrations or modernizations, particularly in secure or regulated environments.
• Knowledge of investigative or laboratory data workflows.
