Journalist / Copywriter & Publications Officer

My client represents almost 70,000 members in Victoria. They offer vocational education, training and professional development to their members, both face-face and via eLearning. My client values worker rights and the Trade Union movement and although not imperative, similar beliefs would be synergetic. The focus of this exciting role is publications, enewsletters, brochures, booklets and web content. We are looking for someone with a journalism/communication background as well as solid experience with layout, production/print ready processes.

You will be able to proactively and consultatively identify, develop and implement a member communication and publication plan. We need the Publications Officer to source information, write, edit and produce an innovative range of professionally presented plain-language printed and online publications, web content, member communication and digital video materials that promote the organisation’s position and provide information to members and other stakeholders.

• Demonstrated high-level written and verbal communication skills with a focus on the capacity to independently write, coordinate and produce various printed and online (inc. Social Media & blog) publications for a range of audiences and purposes
• Experience in planning, writing, planning layouts, editing and producing publications across different formats and mediums
• A demonstrated ability to provide high-quality strategic communications/publications advice to internal stakeholders
• A tertiary qualification in journalism, communications or related field is beneficial
• Attention to detail and strong organisational skills with an ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
