POSITION SUMMARY:
BCG Federal is seeking a JOMIS Integration Architect to support the Joint Operational Medicine Information Systems (JOMIS) portfolio within the Defense Healthcare Medical Systems (DHMS) program.
This role is responsible for translating mission needs, business requirements, and technical constraints into end-to-end solution designs that can be built, tested, and operated across the JOMIS environment. The Integration Architect ensures that system designs are practical, integrated, secure, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
The role works closely with multiple product owners, engineering teams, data and cloud architects, cybersecurity, and vendors to guide solution design from concept through implementation, while ensuring delivery teams remain aligned to approved architectures.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead end-to-end solution designs for JOMIS systems, including application workflows, system interactions, integrations, and deployment approaches
Translate operational, clinical, and program requirements into clear technical designs that delivery teams can execute
Define system boundaries, responsibilities, interfaces, and dependencies across JOMIS applications and external systems
Document and socialize solution options for integrations and data exchange, including tradeoffs, recommended approach, and decisions required
Experience designing solutions that handle sensitive government and healthcare data (for example: PHI/PII/CUI) and associated privacy/security constraints
Develop solution modernization and migration approaches for legacy capabilities, including sequencing, integration impacts, and cutover/rollback considerations
Collaborate with other architects and product vendors to ensure solutions align with approved data models, hosting patterns, and platform standards
Support integration design across legacy systems, modern applications, APIs, and external partners
Ensure solutions meet cybersecurity, privacy, and compliance requirements in coordination with security and accreditation teams
Lead architecture and design reviews, providing technical guidance and identifying risks or gaps early
Support Agile delivery teams by answering design questions, validating implementation decisions, resolving technical issues, while tracking work progress in Jira
Develop and maintain solution documentation, including system diagrams, integration flows, interface definitions, and technical decision records
Ensure solutions support data, AI/ML and analytics architectures and highly integrated product ecosystem
BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
Eight or more years of experience in solution architecture, systems engineering, or application design roles
Demonstrated experience designing complex systems with multiple integrations and stakeholders
Strong understanding of application architecture, APIs, data flows, and system interoperability
Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments, preferably within federal or DoD programs
Familiarity with Agile delivery models and working closely with development teams
Ability to document and explain technical designs in a clear and structured manner
Strong problem-solving skills and sound technical judgment
U.S. citizenship required
Active Secret clearance preferred, with ability to obtain and maintain clearance as required
Operational Medicine or healthcare data expertise preferred, but not required
KEY COMPETENCIES:
· Strong systems thinker with the ability to connect business needs to technical solutions
· Organized, self-directed operator who manages competing priorities, maintains strong follow-through, and communicates status/risks early in a fast-paced environment
· Ability to design and evaluate complex, distributed architectures and to assess architectural tradeoffs and make defensible decisions under constraints
· Practical and delivery-oriented approach to architecture
· Effective collaborator across technical and non-technical teams
· Clear communicator who can explain complex technical designs in plain language
· Comfortable working in fast-moving environments with evolving requirements
· Effectively briefs government and contractor stakeholders on architecture decisions, risks, and recommended paths forward
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS (NOT REQUIRED):
· Architecture or systems engineering certifications such as TOGAF or equivalent
· Agile or delivery framework certifications such as SAFe, Scrum, or PMI-ACP
