Job Description:
True North Recovery, Inc. is seeking a dependable and experienced Laborer to join our Job Training Program alongside our facilities team. This temporary full-time position is responsible for performing in-house general maintenance needs that help create safe, functional, and welcoming environments for the people we serve.
Ideal candidates will have a broad skill set in general construction, with at least 5 years of experience, and the ability to work both independently and in collaboration with a laborer. This role reports directly to the Facilities Director and/or designee and may involve occasional travel to remote locations.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Facilities Director with facility improvement and maintenance
Complete assigned work efficiently and with attention to detail
assist with a variety of carpentry and remodeling tasks including:
Framing, flooring, drywall, painting, trim, countertops, tile
Window installation, siding, fencing, and bathroom remodels
Light plumbing and electrical work.
Manage and stock tools, materials, and supplies
Maintain a safe and organized worksite
Communicate clearly and respectfully with other departments
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Proven knowledge of basic maintenance and construction procedures
Valid Alaska driver’s license and insurable under company policy (minimum age 18)
Continued employment is contingent upon satisfactory state and federal background checks
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Experience in plumbing and electrical
Strong project and time management abilities
Sound judgment and decision-making abilities
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Comfortable working under pressure and managing priorities

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This role is primarily performed in an office building with standard office environment and controlled temperatures. When working outdoors or at a job site the employee may be exposed to construction equipment or other moving objects/equipment, reference job site specifics. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk/hear, see, read, and personally interact with others.
