The Job Accountant will aid the department in reviewing construction budgets, approving invoices, and ensuring that construction billings are issued to clients and payments are collected. This position will also assist the team in reducing time to close, increasing department efficiencies, improving internal controls, and preparing and analyzing key areas of the business.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Champion the Company’s Vision, Mission, and Core Values in every action and decision: Value Safety, Embrace Ownership, Be Honorable, and Elevate Team.
Review and code invoices for approval and provide invoices to the project manager for approval.
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Process job cost adjustments in the accounting system.
Coordinate master service agreements and lien waivers in conjunction with the project manager, project engineer, and Vendor Compliance Specialist.
Set up purchase orders and subcontract agreements at job inception.
Ensure quantity adjustments and run projections are accounted for and entered in the accounting system in collaboration with the project engineer.
Manage change order compliance and process, including input to the accounting system, estimating system updates, and contract tie-out.
Set up new job phases as requested by the project engineer and project manager.
Understand State Construction Registry (SCR) and Lien Waiver forms to provide support to compliance and accounts payable.
Participate in pre-construction meetings, both internal and external.
Provide financial reporting and weekly scorecard updates in coordination with the project engineer and project manager.
Assist with the development of project budgets and forecasts.
Provide sound accounting and budgetary advice to job owners and stakeholders in relation to project financials.
Maintain project files for audit-ready purposes.
Assist with month-end close for areas of responsibility.
Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by supervisors.
Skills and Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in, or starting in the near future toward, a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Construction Management, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word.
Prior experience using Viewpoint (Vista) and Bid2Win software is preferred.
Must be able to work independently with the ability to manage multiple high-priority tasks.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.
Physical Requirements:
Able to sit, type, and perform computer work for extended periods of time.
Frequent use of hands and fingers for computer entry.
Able to see, talk, hear, stand, and walk.
Able to perform occasional bending, lifting, and reaching.
Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
