As a Full-Time Cleaner (Transit Stations), you will help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across public transit stations to the highest standard. This is a permanent full-time position with a schedule of five (5) shifts per week, assigned based on operational requirements.
POSTING DETAILS (Mandatory Information)
Location: 85 Industry St, York, ON M6M 4L5
Job Classification: Full-Time Cleaner(heavy-duty cleaner)
Rate of Pay: $20.90/hour (as per Collective Agreement)
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week (before breaks)
Schedule: Monday to Friday (5 shifts per week)
Shift: Night (10:30 PM – 6:30 AM)
Number of Positions: 17 Employees
Your work will include:
Washroom Cleaning:
Clean and sanitize all washrooms, including sinks, mirrors, toilets (inside and outside), and urinals (including underneath). Polish stainless-steel surfaces, perform high dusting, sweep and mop floors, spot clean walls, empty garbage, and restock supplies. Complete and sign washroom checklists. Ensure no excess supplies are left on dispensers.
Garbage Collection:
Empty all interior and exterior waste bins. Clean and wipe waste receptacles to remove spills and stains.
CSA Booth Cleaning:
Sanitize tables, dust computer monitors, spot clean walls, sweep and mop floors, and empty garbage.
Operator Lunchrooms & Multi-Purpose Rooms:
Sanitize tables, chair legs, and sinks. Sweep and mop floors, perform high dusting, and empty garbage.
General Station Cleaning:
Sweep, edge mop, and maintain floors throughout the station, including staircases, entrances, escalator landing areas, and surrounding surfaces. Dry mop escalator landings. Dust platform walls, fixtures, and perform general surface cleaning.
Floor Care:
Perform routine floor cleaning using auto-scrubbing equipment and surface detailing as part of regular maintenance duties.
Work Orders & Reporting:
Complete assigned work orders and report cleaning or maintenance issues such as graffiti, damage, or hazards as required.

NOTE:
• Position will be filled based on skill, ability, and seniority (for internal employees).
• Schedule is subject to operational requirements in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
• A great attitude and strong attention to detail
• Strong English communication skills (reading, writing, and speaking) – mandatory
• Cleaning/janitorial experience is an asset (minimum 6 months preferred)
• Floor care experience is an asset (machine scrubbing and detailing)
• Comfortable standing/walking for extended periods in a public-facing environment
• Comfortable using cleaning chemicals and equipment safely
• Able to communicate professionally with supervisors, clients, and the general public
• Able to lift up to 25 lbs and perform physical tasks (bending, pushing/pulling equipment)
• A clear criminal background check is required for this role
