About PosiTrace
PosiTrace is a fleet management technology company processing real-time GPS telemetry and video data from thousands of devices across North America. Our platform tracks vehicles, monitors driver behavior, and provides analytics for fleet operators — handling millions of data points daily through a distributed cloud architecture.
The Role
You'll work directly under our Senior DevOps & Infrastructure Engineer, learning to maintain and improve the cloud infrastructure that powers our fleet tracking platform. This is a hands-on role where you'll grow from executing guided tasks to independently managing production systems.
What You'll Do
Infrastructure & Cloud Operations
Manage and monitor GCP resources: GKE clusters, Cloud SQL instances, GCS buckets, Compute Engine VMs
Maintain Docker containers and Kubernetes deployments across staging and production environments
Monitor system health using Zabbix, GrayLog, Google Cloud Monitoring, and internal tools
Manage VPN access, SSL certificates, DNS records, and firewall rules
Participate in on-call rotation for infrastructure incidents (after ramp-up period)
CI/CD & Deployment
Assist with BitBucket Pipelines for automated builds, tests, and deployments
Execute deployments following established workflows with git tag versioning
Support rollback procedures and hotfix workflows when production issues arise
Containerize services with Docker/Helm and deploy to GKE
IoT Device Infrastructure
Monitor and maintain backend services that handle communication with GPS trackers and cameras in the field
Track service health and data flow through the processing pipeline — from device ingestion through message queues to storage
Assist with troubleshooting device connectivity issues: validate network settings, check SIM card status across cellular providers, verify configurations
Support ongoing containerization and migration of services to Kubernetes
Data Pipeline & Storage
Monitor message queue health, backlog, and consumer lag
Support Elasticsearch, Redis, and MongoDB operations
Assist with MySQL database maintenance and troubleshooting
What You Bring
Required:
Basic understanding of Linux system administration (Ubuntu/Debian)
Familiarity with Docker containers and basic Kubernetes concepts
Exposure to at least one cloud platform (GCP preferred, AWS or Azure acceptable)
Understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, VPN, SSL/TLS
Basic scripting skills in Bash; Python or Go a bonus
Familiarity with Git version control and CI/CD concepts
Strong troubleshooting mindset
Willingness to learn IoT device management and fleet technology
Nice to Have:
Experience with CI/CD tools (BitBucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions, or similar)
Exposure to monitoring tools (Zabbix, Grafana, GrayLog, or similar)
Familiarity with message queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka)
Knowledge of MySQL administration basics
Any exposure to IoT devices, embedded systems, or telemetry data
CompTIA, GCP, or Kubernetes certifications (or studying for them)
Why PosiTrace
