Job Description
Stillwater Sciences seeks a highly motivated IT Help Desk Support specialist to serve as an addition to our 3-person IT department. This person will support an interdisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and operations employees working across nine physical offices. This position will focus on help desk requests and supporting end users, but there is an opportunity to be involved in all aspects of our IT needs from desktop support to network and systems administration. The IT Help Desk Support will generally work regular business hours; however, some weekend and evening work may occasionally be necessary. Some overnight travel to other offices is occasionally required. This position will work 5 days/week in-person in our Berkeley office and will report to our Berkeley-based IT Manager.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Providing desktop/network support to all employees at both local and remote offices.
Configuring and installing desktop and laptop computer systems and applications within the company.
Resolving technical issues related to network interruptions.
Creating training materials pertaining to computer troubleshooting and usage.
Analyzing, troubleshooting, and diagnosing hardware problems, sometimes using remote access tools.
Assisting in the ongoing maintenance and future planning needs of the company’s desktop environment.
Monitoring the performance of the company’s desktop infrastructure and making suggestions for improving efficiency.
Documenting and maintaining IT inventory.
Assisting with server and network maintenance.
Qualified applicants should possess:
2+ years of desktop support/network experience.
Demonstrated experience with prioritizing requests and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Excellent follow-through and customer service skills.
Experience installing and configuring computer systems and applications in an enterprise environment.
Proven ability to offer high-level desktop support in an enterprise environment.
Comfort working in and assisting others through remote access.
Experience with Microsoft 365 Administrative tools such as SharePoint Exchange and Entra .
Experience working with Windows 11.
General understanding of networking technology (i.e., firewall, routers, switches).
Experience with any of the following softwares is a plus: AutoCAD and BIM 360; Windows Server and Active Directory; Unifi products; Intune/Autopilot; any ticketing system.
Able to remain in a stationary position more than 50% of the time.
Able to move equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, with reasonable accommodation.

Compensation and Application:
This is a full-time (40 hours/week), non-exempt, in-person position in Berkeley, CA.
The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and is in the $26.50-$31/hour range.
